G.O. 39 LONGWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT GENERAL ORDER NUMBER: GO - 39 SUBJECT: TELECOMMUTING EFFECTIVE: MARCH 26, 2020 REVISED: MARCH 31, 2023 GENERAL ORDER TELECOMMUTING GO – 39 PAGE 1 OF 2 I. PURPOSE In the event of an emergency, such as a weather disaster or pandemic, the City of Longwood may require employees to temporarily work from home to ensure business continuity. Although not all jobs can be performed satisfactorily by telecommuting, the City of Longwood recognizes that, in some cases, telecommuting arrangements can provide a mutually beneficial option for both the City and for employees to ensure services to residents continues. II. ELIGIBILITY A. Full Time and Part Time employees who have been designated by and received approval from their Department Director and City Manager and who sign the Telecommuting Agreement. B. Employees must be able to carry out pre-approved duties, assignments, and other work obligations at their home office as they do when working on City premises unless otherwise defined by their Department Director. C. Hourly employees are required to submit a list of daily/weekly completed tasks/ assignments to their supervisor. D. The workweek for all full-time employees is 40 hours. Employees who fail to complete 40 hours of productive work during the workweek are expected to report time worked accurately when reporting time in the City’s pay system. E. Employees must be available to their supervisors, co-workers, and external customers during core work hours. Core work hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday or an alternative schedule as defined by the supervisor. GENERAL ORDER TELECOMMUTING GO – 39 PAGE 2 OF 2 F. Employees must be available to attend scheduled meetings and participate in other required office activities at the home office as needed. Note: The City of Longwood has the right to cancel or suspend employee telecommuting privileges at any time, or any reason or for no reason.
