I. PURPOSE:
This directive establishes guidelines for the management system and investigation
support function of the Secure Call Platform Telephone Monitoring System.
II. GOVERNING AUTHORITY:
Longwood Police Department records are retained in accordance with Chapter 119,
Florida Statutes.
III. GENERAL:
A. The Securus Secure Call Platform Inmate Telephone Monitoring System is
maintained at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
B. The system is an investigative tool that allows authorized police department
personnel the ability to monitor inmate telephonic communications.
C. Access for telephonic communications will only be granted for criminal and
internal investigations.
IV. RECORDINGS:
A. Authorized personnel can request a copy of an inmate’s telephonic
communications by contacting the Sheriff’s Office Domestic Security Division.
B. Recordings of conversations related to open criminal investigations are
considered law enforcement sensitive and will be restricted from release to the
public under Chapter 119, Florida Statutes.

V. RECORDING AUTHENTICATION AND RELEASE:
A. Once the recorded telephonic communications are released to the requestor,
the requestor assumes all responsibility for the information.
B. Employees that receive telephonic communications shall adhere to the General
Order Record Management and evidence procedures.
