Present: Oi ck Crenshaw. B.H. Ferrell, E.E. Williamson, B.L. Nelms, Mayor Jaques. Absent: William J. Kl os ky Meeting called to order by Dick Crenshaw, Vice Chai noon. No on as present regarding the proposed change. Motion by Mr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Will iamsgn to eliminate iwo family dwellings from R-2 & R-3 Residential District. Ferrell, E.E. Williamson, B.L. Nelms, Mayor Jaques and City Attorney. Absent: William J. Kloskv Meett nq opened with prayer by Mayor Jaques, followed by Salute to the Flag. Correspondence read by the Li ty Clerk. 1. Letter from the City Engineer- Re: Showers property draf nage. The engineer stated that in his opinion the problem of the pondi ng water has been caused by the Warehouse Building and paving which Mr. Showers constructed on his property. The prpb lem can be solved by the construction of a grate top at the low point where water is qw pondi ng and Oi Ding to the existing 0 0 T drainage structure on SR -42]. While thenpondf ng water ~s unsightly, it is not detrimental to the city and no corrective action need be taken. Motion by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Helms instructing the Mayor to write Nr. Showers a letter advising him to take corrective measures to take care of the problem. Carried. 2. Letter from 5.1.0. Oeve lopi ng Corporation requesting a final inspection be made in Winsor-Manor 5/0. Motion by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr. Williamson to refer the matter to the City Engineer. Carried. 3. Letter from Wi 11 lam Bush, Jr. County En9 ineer, Re:- SR-42] and Church Street. Hourly traffic volumes on both the ma$or & minor streets a nsi derably below those required to satf sfy the minimum vehicular volume warrent. YeThe intersection does not meet requirements for si gnali zati on at this time. The matter was referred to the Mayor. 4. Letter from Wni ted States Environmental Protection agency to Mayor Jaques ..stab ng that a Federal Grant in the amount of $ 30,000 to City of Longwood is approved. The offer is made under the provisions of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Pmendnents of Iq]2 and represents ]B% of the EPA eligible project cost. The offer must be accepted within three weeks from June 30, 19]3. Motion by Mr. Ferrell seconded 258 by Mr. Williamson authorizing the Attorney to draft a Resq luti on, accepting the grant offer. Motion carried. 5. Letter fran CAM Corporation stating that Skylark 570, Unit 1, has now eachetl the Loge in which se er, water 8 drainage lines a n place and completed. LAM Corporation requested final approval o as is ve ni ent. Motion by Mr. Helms seconded by Mr. Fe rrel is toerefer the matter to the Engineer. Carried. 6. Bids on water meters were opened and read. Finns bidding were as follows: Davis Meter 8 5oDP1Y Co. Total bid 13.284.72 Hughes 50pp1Y, lnc. 13,260.65 B 8 H Sales, Inc. 10,659.92 Motion by Mr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Williamson to refer the bids to Water Supt. for study 8 recomnendati on. Motion carried. ]. Mrs. Kale, a esident of Land Ave, was present regarding the drat n4ge of the street. The water is pondf ng at Land & Credo, and the street needs attention. The matter was referred to the Mayor & Street Comm ttee. 8. Motion by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr. Helms to place Ortli nonce X 334 on first eadi ng. Roll Call Vote: Unarm nous, motion ca ri ed, the Attorney read the Ordinance in full. Mptf on by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Ferrell to adopt Ordinance k 334 on first reading. Roll Lali Vote: Unamf noun, motf on carried, Ordinance N 334 was adapted on the first reading. Motion by Mr. Helms seconded by Mr. Williamson to seta public heart ng on the property described in Ordinance # 334 for August 2nd. at 7:00 p. m. Carried. 9. Mr. Fisher, Water Supt. r mnended council award the bid for the water meters to B 8 N Sales, Inc. They wereothe low bidder and met alt specifications of the bid. Motf on by Mr. Helms seconded by Mr. Ferrell to award the bid for the water meters to B & H Sales, Inc. in the amount of $ 10,859.00, upon Mr. Fisher's recomnentlati on Motion carried. 10. Slurry Seal- Motion by Mr. Wil i{amson seconded by Mr. Helms to pay 5g% of the statement received from the Company The amount of the statement is 9,232.68 Council feels that 5D% of the a ount should be pafd at this time, the remainder to be paid when the work is canpl ete. Motion carrf ed. 11. Mayor Jaques was ins trotted to contact department heads regarding purchase orders. '. 12. Finance Committee will meet with Police Dept. at 7:30 p. m. July 10th. and the ' Fire Dept. at 9:00 p. m. regarding their budg ets. 13. Mayor Jaques called attention to the need for expansion of city facilities Mayor asked co ncil to detenni ne whether to use the Medical Building for Offices for City Personnelq undertake an expansion program of city hall. Motion by Mr. Ne ims seconded by Mr. Ferrell Lo authorize Che Mayor to notify Lhe ' County Health Dept. to vacate the Medical Di dg. located at the corner of West Church Ave. & Wilma Street, within 3 months.
