1. CALL TO ORDFR Mayor Bondy celled the meeting to order at'l:04 pm
Commissioner SackeH moved to suspend the rulas. Seconded by
Cemmissioner Holt and enttied by a uoumneos rotce vote.

Greenways Committee, reviewed a snap depicting proposed trails in
Longwood. She wed a proposed ro to for the trails starting at
General Hutchison Parkway. She advised General f3ulchison Piukway, at

Park. She stated there were plans to place a hail head in the aren.'I'hey
proposed the trail to run along Timacuan Road:. access a drainage

would recommend going north to Florida Avenue, avoiding Clmmh
Avenuebecause ofthelack ofright-of--way. Florida Avenue borderlines
city-owned property by the Police Department and she proposed utilizing
lhie property to Churoh Avenue connecting thetrail to Reiter Park. She
wed pictures of the various parks throughout the Historic Dissrict.

Commissioner Anderson stated there waz n map that exists for the first
phase. He said hopefully the areas vot included iv the first phasewoufd
mako the second phase. He declared running a trail only along Longwood
Hills Road would miss out on oovneoting ell oftlra schools and perks, thus
obtaining something that was functional. He stated bringing the trail
through the city provides Ear the opportunity to bring together ell oftha
schools. He said connecting in this mavves~ would offer childron a safe
s of transportation. He said this proposal did not require right-of-way
acquis and was an opportunity to have en impact for the least amount
ofm nayns
Mr. McCollum said standards for width aan vary. He stated they would
lke to have f urteon (1q) feet and do vot like to gobelow ten (lo) fbex for
width of «ails.
Discussiov was held regarding a rail in residential areas.
Comvrissionor Anderson stated a residential srceut would have slower
twffic. He suggested by abutting tD !ho sidawaW, the width could be

there were ways to plan around this. He suggested by landscaping it would
make it feel morn homnly.

Drymty Mayor Maingot said the goal was to link into Oro existing county
trail system. He asked b what extent the county's eupPOrt wvuld be for
panieipeting with rho city developing a comtecting system.

1990'x, they were looking at s~arting anywhore in Seminole County, either
e sidewalk as a trail. Fle said this plan would be the city's plan and the

Deputy Mayor Maingot stared he endorsed the need w develop a trail
system within Longwood. He asked the City Administrator if ste(Chav had
an opportunity to review [he proposed plan.
Mr Drago statM staff had not really had the opponwity to review this

er. He said taming on to East Warten from Myrtle, everything on the
n'ght side of the oadw at the edge of the tight-of--way. He funkier

Mr. Drago pointed out the section of roadway between Grant and Oak,
staling dtis was being redesigned, and it was emcisl to deal with drainage
to this area. He advised that each roadway was a custom design.
Mayor Bundy said there weralwo (2) areas [o considu. FirsS they need to
decide on fhe route. He said they needed to detenrune iiGYedo will be part

the ereasuimplicated.
Discussion was held regarding various options-
Deputy Mayor Maingot said this would take some in-depth study and

Mr. Dago gave some various altamatives that could be explored. He said

of Florida Avenue for nn entrance and exit.
Commissioner Seckatt said they needed to engage the area of Small World
Park being connec[ed to the trail system. He stated he would have
reservattovs eonceming coming down Ronald Reagan Boulevard
hfr. McCollum said his staff was willing to work with city aloft. He
advised the city did need to start planning. He said the possibility for
funding through grants was always changing.
Mayor 6undy reiterated staffwould need to conduc[ an assessment on all
the areas proposed, and if it appears [o beprohibitive to suggest
al(ema(ives.
Discussion ensued.
Commissioner Futduson declared it was important to eomoct the pazks
and schools.
Mayor Bundy suggested the hails could be developed in phases as funds
became available.
Mr. Drago stated the Commission needed to be cognitive ofihe need to be
sensmveto the residents that lino ov the roadways being oonsidued.

Counrv Cha'rrnan Hwlev said it has been interesting to henr the
disc and slated he enders ands there is unanimity on the desire for a
