1. Ifayor Gunter called Che special meeting to order at ]: DO P. M.
2. Authorization [o Submit Gran[ ApPl ica Lion to the Florida Department of
iranspor[ati on for SR 434 Improvements and Planning Study.
Mr. Terry explained that the grant program provides 20%/80% state/local govern-
ment fundi n9 and that the City would like to apply for two projects; the
extension of the existing median on SR 434 from U3 1]-92 intersection west to
the entrances to Al bertson's and Winn Dixie and a right-of-way planning study
for the future li-l zni ng of SR 434 from US 1]-92 to SR 436. Ne further stated
the local funding for the planning study would be snared by the Coon[y and
Al tanwnte Springs.
Motion by Deputy Mayor Dennis, s onded by Commissioner Poel kinq, that the staff
be authorized to prepare and submit the qra nt application to the Florida Depart-
ment of Tra nsportation for the Local Government Cooperative Assistance Program
and that the Mayor be au thorned to sign the qra nt apDl ica Lion and commit the
necessary City matching funds related to [he grant subnii ss ion.
3. Report from Jeff Etchberger on Police Depa rtmen[ Investigation,.
r. Terry stated, today, he re ived a report from Jeff Etchberger of the Flanage-
~ent Audit and Exanii na Lion of the Longwood Police Oenevol ent Fund and, after a
thorough re w of this report, in his capacity as A<ti ng City Admi ni stra [or, has
uspended Police Chi of Greg Manning, Police Captain Terry Baker and Police
Depa rtnient Administrative Secretary Vat Hoc kenberry with pay effective inniedia tely.
Ile further stated Fe will appoint an Acting Chief of Police t subject to
