The Longwood City Council met in regular session. August 16th. at 7:30 p. m.
Present: All Council members, City Attorney.
Absent: Eugene D. Jaques.
Meet inS opened with prayer by Mr. Joe Oavi s, City Attorney, followed by Salute to
the Flag.
1. Request for va on property located at 551 E. Sanl ando Springs Dr. [o allow
a 6i cycle Sales Showroom, parts 8 ac
Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by MreSFerrell to set a publfc hearing Sept. 13th. at
]:W p. m. on the request. Motion carried.
2. Motion by Mr. Helms seconded by Mr. Crenshaw to approve the minutes of previous
council meeti ns, also public hearing. Motion carried.
3. Council Chairman, Wf l ti am Kl osky, a nced that he had conferred with County
Comni ssioners, Greg Oruaanond, John Ki mbrough & Sid Vi hlen rega rd tng the Medical
Building, and the County will work with the City in n attempt to establish a Medical
Center in this area, also try to obtain federal funding to build one.
4. Mr. Oavi s, Attorney, requested co ncil to authorize him to study the matter of
obscenity laws & make a nmenda ti on as to the enforcement of the Law.
Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Nelms to refer the matter of obscenity to the
Attorney. Motion carrf ed.
5. Mr. W.J. McNenny called attention to flooding of Rock Lake due to the Developer
of the Moori n9s S/0 draining water into the Lake. Matter referred to the Engineer.
6. Mr. John Green complained about a large hole on Land Ave. & Lakeview Drive. Mr.
Green stated this was due to the City Crew working on the ditch. Mr. Williamson
Lhai nnan of the street conmi ttee will check into the situation.
]. Dr. Gerald Grissom complained about the condition of Longwood-Markham Rd. The
County will participate with the City to Dave Markham Road by October 1, 1973. Mr.
Albers agreed to fill the holes wt th concrete.
8. Motion by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. He l ms'to accept the fi ni nci al statement
8 pay the bills. Motf on Carried.
9. Mr. Fisher, Water Supt. stated that the city is loosing money on water meters &
meter boxes, due to the developers driving over them with heavy equipment. Matter
referred to the City Attorney.
10. Mr. Fisher stated that he is able to obtain a piece of equipment to restore
the streets when cut to open them to install water lines. The equipment sells for
$ 1.500.00. Motion by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Helms to advertise for bids
on the equipment, bids to be fn cf ty hall by August 23. Motion carried.
33. Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Helms to cancel the council meeting of
August 30th. Motion carrf ed.
12. Mr. Rick Schell er- Re: Seminole Labl evisi on. Omendmen is t0 the Cable i.V.
Ordinance ready for adoption.
Motion by Mr, Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Helms to read Ordinance b 336.

Motion by Mr. Willi amson seconded by Mr. Helms to amend Section 30 of the Ordinance
reducing the length of the Franchise fran 15 yrs. to l0yrs.

13. The City Attorney read RESo lotion X 226 in full. Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded
by Mr. Williamson to adopt Resolution # 22fi.

Motion carried, Resolution # 226 was adopted.
14. Motion by Mr. Williamson Seconded by Mr. Ferrell to adopt Resol uti0n # 22], as read
by the Attorney.
