The Longwood City Council met in requl ar s ssion, August 23, 17 J:30 P. M.
Present: Wm. J. Klosky, B.N. Ferrell, E. E. eWi lliamson, Oi ck Lren Shaw, NedJUli an,
Attorney.
Absent: Eugene Jaques, B.L. Helms
Meetf ng opened with prayer by Mr. Julian, followed by Salute to the Flag.
I. Motion by Mr. Ferrell s tootled by Dlr. Williamson t0 place Ordinance # 33] on
cOnd reading, by title only.
Roll Call Vote: Hnamin0us, motion carried, the Attorney read the Ordinance by title
only.
Motion by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Crenshaw to adopt Ordinance # 337 on second
and final readf ng.
Roll Call Vote: Mr. Crenshaw, Williamson, KlOSky-yes, B.H. Ferrell do. Motion carried.
Ordinance # 337 was passed & adopted.
2. Bids on equipment t0 repair streets opened 8 read. Bid rece,ved from Highway Equipment
8 Supply Co.--§ 1,035.00
Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Ferrell to refer the bid t0 the Water 8 Street
Supts. for recmmendation, to be purchased only on their recommendation. Motion carried.
3. The Chairman an nced that the used Ford Tractor with loader had been advertised
For 1 week, only one bid wa ved in the amount of $ 3,500.00. Motion by Mr. Crenshaw
<onded by Mr. Williamson toraccept the bid of Mr. Al Guri ns kas in the amount of $ 1,500.
for the equipment. Motf on carded.
4. Letter from the Li ty Attorney-Re: Certification Of Mill age B taxable value. The
letter stated that in order for the City Council to in re se the Mill age From 3.68 as
certf fled by the state, a public hea rf ng would have tocbea he ld. Under Florida
3 tatute 200.061 if property valuations in a city have in ased, the mil loge rate must
be lowered, o a public hearing be held to retain the sam erate as the previous year.
Motion by Mr. rC rens haw seconded by Mr. Williamson to set the mil loge rate at 3.68.
MOti on carried.
5. MOti on by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Ferrell to set a public hearing on the
budget ordinance for September 7th, if required by law, if not required by law then will
be held September 13th. at 7:00 p. m. prior to the council meeting. Motion carried.
Petition for annexation into the city presented to co ci 1, certified. The cost of
xati on 8 zoning of property was discussed by co cil members. The Attorney stated
that the Resolution had been prepared, nv fee set. uMr. Julian will make a recomnentlation
by the next meeti nq.
Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Ferrell to draft a Resolution expressing intent
to an ex the property, seta public hearing For October 25th. at J:00 p.m. prior to
nc it meeting.
MrU Crenshaw, Ferrell, Klosky voiced ayes vote, Mr. Williamson voted no. Motion carried.
J. Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Wil liamsOn that the cost Of annexatf on be
kepi and the tnfoematf on be foewarded to Mr. Mooney. Motion carried.
8. Longwood-Markham Road: the County will furnish equipment to break 8 crush the
asphalt on Longwood-Markham Rd. The Street COmmi ttee agreed to contact Mr. Lavender
regarding the matter.
Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Williamson to contact Mr. lavender, if he
recommends this be done, council is In agreement. Motion carried.
9. Nation by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Williamson to accept the minutes of previ0u5
council meetings. Motion carried.

10. Maintenance contract on the addressograph machine presented by Mr. Ferrell.
The contract price is $ 146.60 per yr.
Motion by Mr. Williamson seconded by Nr. Ferrell Lo enter into a contract for
mat ntance on the addressograph graphotype class 350 machf ne. Motf on carried.
11. Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Ferrell to allow the Fire Chief to
attend the Fire Prevention Conference to be held in Cocoa beach, October 2, 3, 4,
Chf of to keep an account of his expenses to be paid by the city. Motion carried.
12. Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Ferrell to allow the Chairman 8 Mayor
to attend the conference in Tallahassee on September 5th. regarding Federal program
of grants for sewage treatment plant construction. Motion carried.
13. Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Ferrell authorizing the Police Chief to
purchase a typewriter for the police dept., to be paid for in October, in the new
budget. Motion carried.
14. Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Ferrell to call for bids on Police
Uniforms, bids to be returned by 6epta'nber 13th. Motion carried.
15. Mr. Crenshaw stated that no ea ment was provi detl for children in Skylark 5/0
to walk to Longwood Elementary ScM1OOI. Mr. Crenshaw stated that ft was his under-
standing that on would be provided .
Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Williamson to hold up approval of Skylark S/0
until the question of May Street is resolved. Motion carried.
