The Longwood City Council met in regal ar session June 28, at 7:30 p.m.
Present: B.N. Ferre il, B.L. Nelms, Oick Crenshaw, Mayor Jaques, City Attorney.
Absent: William J. Kl os ky, E.E. Williamson
Meeting opened with prayer by Mayor Jaques, followed by Salute to the flag.

1. A letter of invitation from the dpwntown busf ness as ci anon of Sanford, Fla.
nvi ti ng City Officials to celebrate the lowering of then Ameri can Fl a9 at the down-
town Sanford Public Library. The event is the conclusion of the "Vigft Flag" pledge
made five years ago when a flag was rar sed to tly .until the conflict in Vi etNam ended
and the POW's were returned.
2. Letter from Maitland-$0. Seminole Chamber of Commerce urging co ncil to adopt
a Resolution supporting the concept of a single emergency tel ephoneunumber whereby
citizen may be co netted with approprf ate poif ce, fire o medical s e agency,
mergency, the letter urged Longwood to adopt such a resolution. Matter
was creferretl to the Mayor.
3. letter from Florida League of Cities-Re: Changing of the fiscal year for cities,
due to revenue sharing mandate.
4. Request trwn Mr, Bartlfns ki to Dark a trailer on his property while relatives
siting. Motion by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr. Nelms to grant Mr. earth nski
art weeks permit. Motion carried.
5. Water Supt. r ,mnended co ncil accept the low bid of Brooks Concrete Products
for water meter boxes. Matt onuby Mr. Nelms seconded by Mr, Ferrell ~to accept the
low bid as reconmended by Mr. Fisher. Motion carried.
6. Street Supt. r mmentled the low bid of Nood Tractor be accepted for the tractor-
back hoe. Motion byeMr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Nelms to table the matter until a
full council is present. Mqti onecarri ed.
7. Street Supt. r mmended the low bid of Naney Chevo let, lnc. be accepted on the
pick-up truck. Motion by Mr, Ferrell seconded by Mr. Hel mz to accept the law bid of
Naney Chevol et, [n c. Motion carried.
8. Street Supt.- Slurry Seal. Mr. Leibensperger stated that the fi nn had moved their
equi Anent to North Carolina, would return and complete the job in October. The Company
requested payment of 90% of the amount. The Street Supt. r mmended 75% payment,
Mayor Jaques reconmedtled 50% payment. No action was taken due to lack of statement.
9. Trash detail discussed. The Street Supt. r nmrentled trash, such as leaves and
Dine needles be placed in bags or containers, limbs to be cut in 4 ft. leng4hs. Fla
action taken by council.
30. Crime lab. Mayor Jaques stated that he felt the Li ty should pledge the requested
$ 500. a required by the LEM. Police Chief, Wesley Dowell, also re mended the
pledge. sMOtion by Mr. Ferrell s tootled by Mr. Helms to place the requested amount in
the new budget. Motion carri etl.e
11. Motion by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr. Helms to place Ordi nanc e n 331 on second
reading, by title only.

& final reading.

Motion by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr. Helms t0 adopt Ordinance k 332 on second and
final reading.

13. Motion by Mr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Helms to place Ordinance H 333 on second
reading, to be read by title only.

Motion by Mr. Nelms seconded by Mr. Ferrell to adopt Ordinance S 333 on second and
Final reading.
Roll Call Vote: Uanmi nous, motion carried, Ordinance No.333 was passed and adopted.
14. Motion by Mr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Helens to employ an assistant Water L1 erk
salary to be $ 2.50 per hr.e Mayor Jaques be authorized tb employ the L1 erk

15. Motion by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr. Nelms to pay the approved bills. Carried.
Ifi. The Li ty Rttorney stated that a letter should be written to Longwood Auto Supply
Co. advising the firm that the Li ty will not pay the bills as ubmf tted. Motion by
Mr. Nelms seconded by Mr, Ferrell authorizing the Mayor to draft a letter to the firm.
