The Longwood City Council met in regular se n, March 29 at 7:30 p. m.
Present: All Council members, Mayor Eugene Jaques515. Joseph davi s, City Attorney.
Meeting called to order by Chairman, Wm. K1 OSky, prayer by the Attorney, followed
by Salute to the Fiag.
Correspondence read by the City Clerk.
1. A letter signed by the Mayor & all Covncil Members urging Mr. Davis, City
Attorney to re nsi der his resignation The letter stated that Mayor Jaques
wanted to appoint the fi nn of Stenstram, Davis '8:-MCI ntOSh as City Attorney's, thus
allowing Mr. Davis to use one of his Associates in the event he was unable to attend
cil meet in95.
MrunDavis stated that he would re as City Attorney for an indefinite perf od,
however, he was st ncere when he svbmi tted his resignation.

3. A letter of resignation from the Longwood Police Oept. by Cpl. Eari Connell,
effective March 31, 19]3.
A Certiff cote of Appreciation was awarded to Mr. Connell by Council Chairman Wm. J.
K7 os ky.
4. Letter R: Devonshire S/D from the En9i veer, Wm. Palm was read. The engineer
pointed out the following discrepancies:
Blow-off valves in the entire S/D were 2 ft. above grade, the valves should be
lowered & placed in cast iron box with ao
b. The paving of se eral streets we not of suffi cent thickness and must be over-
laid with a m of 1 inch asphai tic co crets.
c. A few mi nOr~mtems have been pointed out to the contractor, and wilt be corrected.
the engineer re mended that the 9/D be accepted by co n<il subject to the following:
That the discrepancies noted in items A & B above be c0 rected.
b. That the developer £urni sh to the City the required oneryear maintenance bond
with the co event date effective from the date of fi nAC completion of all work
Mr. Cooper, developer of Devonshire B/D wanted c0 ncii to accept the S/D in order to
release his company's performance bond. Mr. Cooper said the $ 11,000.00 maintenance
bond he is prepared to give the city would take <a e of the repairs t0 the roads.
Motion by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Helms to deny the request of Mr. Looper
until-the work is alt completed. Motion carried.
5. Letter from Longwood Auto Supply, Re: Bills charged t0 the city beg innf ng
September 19J2. Mr. Helms stated there we ral bf lls which he questions.
Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Nelms tOVpay the bills submitted by Longwood

A letter front Florida Dept. of Commerce, Division of Labor Re: Inspection of the
City Garage, safety regulations were rmt sufficient. A letter of reply to Mr.
A.41. Lewis. saferty supervisor as ring him that the city would be happy to comply '
with regulations as stated in Nissl etter.

0. letter from David M. Porter, Attorney at Law, stating that a claim had been filed
against the City of Longwood. Municipal Police Dept, for damages to Brian Brunelle,
a public street within the corporate limits of Longwood, on February 26. 19]3.
The matter was referred to the Insurance Carrier & City Attorney.
A letter from Mr. Vince Fec htel, Jr., Representatf ve 34th. District to Mr. S. Joseph
Davis, City Attorney, regarding the letter sent to Mr. Mooney regarding the an exati on
bill, the letter stated that no person, be ft legislator or city official, who is
nvol ved political or personal motivation in their decisions regarding the bill„and
he felt this to be an unjust implication. The letter suggested that Mr. Davis and
Nr. Fec htel get Loge Cher tp discuss the matter.
A letter from Mrs. Priscilla B. Green, Executive Director, Maitland South Seminole
Chamber of Camnerce, Re: The dangerous condition at the intersection of Hy. 1]-92
and S.R. 434. A letter expressing Mrs. Green's co as forwarded by Mayor Jaques.

Motion by Mr. Helms seconded by Mr. Crenshaw to seta public hearing on the request
for a change in the zoning of property in the Bradley's Addition for April 19th. at
]: oG p. m. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Nelms seconded by Mr. Williamson to make B copies of the 2oni ng Ordinance
as submitted by the Zoning Board for council members to study. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Williamson to approve the minutes of previous
council meetings. Motion carried.
Bid re ived on paving the 3] driveways fn the Longdale S/D opened. Bid recef ved from
L ha rl eseMill er of A7 tamonte Springs, FI.
Moved by Mr. Nelms seconded by Mr. Crenshaw to reject the bid, and readverti se tar bids
on the driveways, btds to be retuened by Rpril 12th. 1973. Motion carried.
Mr. Vhn. Palm, engineer gave a report on Skylark S/D. Mr. Palm M1as made periodic
pections of the 8/D and found workmanship i so ar as to be poor, un <eptable
alfgnment of pipe & poor construction of manho les. meMr.ePalm said he would inform the
builder that the work is not acceptable.
Progress report q 6 on the city's water system improvements submitted to co ncil far
study & acceptance. Mo [ion by Mr. Nelms seconded by Mr. Crenshaw to approve
progress report q 6. Mayor authorized to sf gn the report. Motion carried,
Motion by Mr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Het ms to replace the $ 11,]68.]4 in the Water
& Sewer Construction Fund, charge to item 525 Water Dept. Motion carried.

reading, by title only.

Motion by Mr. Crenshaw seconded by Mr. Williamson to read the Memo setting forth the
duties of the Mayor 8 Council. Motion carried, the Attorney read the Memo in full.
Motion by Mr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Nelms to accept the maintenance contract On the
IBM Typewriter, MayoY to sign the contract. Motion carried.
Moved by Mr. Ferrell s conded by Mr. Helms to purchase the mower from Gravely's "Red
Barn" in Mai hand. Motion carried.
