The Longwood City Council met in eular sassion August 13 at 8:00 p.m.

The mooting was called to order by Vice Chairman E.E. wil t.i am son
followed Dy prayer by Mrs. Sandra Thompson & salute to the Flag.

A request for variance 1n lot awes 1n the R-2 resi dential Zone by
Austin Devnlonment Corp. was read by the chairman. Moved by f%;r. Nelms
seconded by P',r. Scott to hold a public hearing Sentenber ? at x:30 p.m.
regarding the r est. Motion carrietl. '
Mr. John 5. Andrews presented the council with a petition Yor property
known as"Island Lake" on West Hwy 434 to be annE.xed to Longwood. The
petition was turned over to the City Attorney for study, also the
peti ticn submitted by E.J. Gi Brach, Attorney of Orizndo. Anew
con opt for development for housos and property develo oment was discussed
by the AttarnE:y. Moved by Mrs. Thompson seconded by Mr. Hr!lms to refer
to the voni ng board a planned typo o£ development for their consideration'
known as planned unit development, also the netiti on of "Island Lakn
Park" and for the Attornoy to be present at the meeting, Motion c tried,

Moved by Mr. Helms seconded by Mrs. Thompson ins true ting the Attorney

Motion carried.
Moved by M1!rs. Thompaon seconded Dy Mr. Scott to hold a special
session August 20 at y:30 £or the pur vose o{ considering the
Ordinance annexing Talmo Subdivision. Motion carried.
Mr. Sames McEVers requested council to close Florida Ave. from its
intersection of Oak Street West, a distance of approximately 250 ft.
Mr. McEvers stated that a pond was at the end o£ this Street and
Children playing near the de<:p hole could get drowned, also created a
litter problem.
Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Helms requesting Mayor Brown to
take necessary steps in closing that aortion of Florida Ave, as
requested by N.r. MC Evers. Motion carried.
The AttornE:y was requested to study the Winter Park Telephony Co.
Franchise and make recommendations to the. council regarding placing
wires & cables in the City.
Moved Dy Mrs. Thompson seconded by Mr. Helms instructing the Attornoy
to prepare an ortlinanc<: r::gulating the sPe ed o£ trains through the
City, Motion carried,
