CCMtg07-09-702~z REGULAR SESSiCN JULY 9, 1970 The Longwood City Council met in rngular session July 9 at 8:00 p.m. Present, James A, Brown, H,A. Scott, B.L. Helms, S. Jess ph Davis City Attorney. Absent, Sandra Tho:pnson, E.E. Williamson, Mayor Kf:nneth H. Hrown. Meeting called to order by the chairman, minutes o£ previous meetings read & approved as read. Mr. Charles LaFoe called attention to the Flag in the Council Chamber::, he stated thatths Flag should be destroyed or cleaned. Council Chairman stated that the matter would be taken under advisn- t mee . Mr. Thomas Gamblin requested council to make a decision cegactli ng parking a trailer on his property on East Pine Ave. The trailer wil l not be occupied. The Attorney will check the ordinances and advise Ftr. Gamblin regartling the matter. Mr, cli£FOrd Ghumway thanked the Police & Fire Depts. for their assistance to him during a heart attack he suf£e red sev<.ral Months ago, and asked Council to draft a letter commending the Police and Fire Depts. for their ssrvice and tl::vot`-.on to T.he Citizens of the City. Moved by Mr, Scott seconded by Fir. Helms to Pollow Mr. Shumway`s regv est and draft the letter to be mail ed to residents of the Community. Motion carried. Hi ds on 642 ft. of Culvert pipe were op:.ned & read, firms bidding were as follows: Culvert M£g. Co. 5 2,102.88 Florida Pipe s. Mfg. Co. $ 2,948.77 Cater Culbert Co. $ 1,926.00 Bids on Water Pipe„ fixtures etc. were. op<tnetl & read. Firms bidding were as follows: H & H Sales, Inc. $ 2,$06.07 Davis Meter & Supply $ 2,650,45 xugnes supply Inc. $ z,551.25 `L ~3 Upon the recommendation o£ the Attorney all bi tls were turned over to Mr, Fisher for checking & recommendation. A letter from RaMar M£g, Co. reguos ting a Fire Hydrant De placed closer to their but.l ding on west Hwy. 434 was rend by the Chairman. The City has a 2 inch water Dart of the distance to the building and a 1 inch line the rest of the. wa, n Hwy 434, and cannot accomodate a f1~C hydrant at the present time. The Chairman also stated that it would notbe feasable to run a sufficient water line to the building because the State Road Dept, will not issue a permit until the right- '' of vmys have been n rchased to 4 lane sR 494. Moved by Mr. Helms seconded by Mr.SC Ott to approve the e _enditure for schooling police p.rsonnel as requested Dy the Police Chief. '. Motion carried. Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Helms giving Firs Chief Lommler permission to negotiate with the Suburban Fire. Control District regarding Longwood's participation in the matter. Motion carried. Mr. Fisher made his rec ommendation on the bids for Culvert pipe, Water Wipe & Fittings as Follows: B & H Sales Inc. & Gator Culvert Dips Co. Moved Dy Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Helms to ac eat the low bid of B & H Sales Inc, in the amount of $ 2,506.0 for Water Pine & Fittings Ro11 call veto, Unaminoua, moticn carrir;d. Moved Dy A:r. Helms seconded by Mr. Scott to award the bid for 642 ft. of drainage pipe to the Gator Culvert Co. £or the low bid of $ 1,926.00 ko11 call vote: Unami Woos, motion carried. Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr, Helms to ac ept the finincial statement, nay the bills &. adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
