CCMtg02-12-70" Regular Session Pabruary 12, 1970 The Longwood City Council met in regular session February 12th at 8,00 p.m. 1 1 All Council members, Mayor & City Attorney were present. Meeting called to order by the Chairman, mrnutes of previous meetings r<!ad & approved as corrected. Attorney W.E. Winderweedle, Sr, appeared before the Council regarding the suit far a quit claim deed on the. East 50 ft. of So. 100 £t. o{ Lot 142, Town of Longwood. Mr. Winderwfedle stated that the Town sY Longwood foreclosed for taxes on the East $0 £t, of the 5. 100 Yt. o£ Lot 142 during the years Prom 1.929 through 1937. The owners continuctl to pay taxes on the said property and the Town of Longwood accepted them. The City Attorney recommended that the tax records be searched for the years from 1938 to the present year regarding taxes, before. the matter is settled. Mr. Richard Pichaels from the T.M. Communications Co. was pres ent to speak on Cable T.V. Mr. Michaels stated that cable T.V. has a potential oP 30 stations for this area. The proposed rate of $ 4.75 each outlet. Mayor Brawn recommended that the Council. table the matter & lieten to all proposals on Cable T,V, Moved by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Scott to table the request Yor cable, T.V. at this timo. Motion carried, Mr. Anthony Austin was present to answer complaints regarding his keeping oY nursery stock on his property located on East Sanlando Springs -r. Mr. Austin stated that he only kept the stock there for sa{e keeping. No Dusi ness is conducted on the premises. Mayor Hrown recommended that the Committee that was appointed to district the City study the plan as laid out by the engineer. ~unc11 agreed with Mayor Brown's recommendation. The City Attorney was authorized to c mply with the U.S. Dept., o£ Commerce regarding the request of the Hureau of Census. 2 1 7- A number of recommendations From the Police Dept, was read by the Mayor. The matter of street signs as regves ted by the police dept. was referred to the City Supt. For study & recommendation. Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Helms authorizing Mr. Fisher to look iota the need £or stop signs, speed signs & street signs and report his findings to the council at the next negular s,.s sr on. Roll call vote: Unam inous, motion carried. Streets. Parks & Bldge. committee was authorized to look into the cost of a new flag Yor the City hall. N.oved by Mr. Helms seconded by Mr, Scott to increase the speed sign on Wil dmere Ave, from 25 miles per hr. to 70 and apnropate sign De placed on the Street. Aoll call vote: Mr. Helms, Scott, Williamson, Hrown--yes Mrs. Thompson No. Motion carried. Moved Dy Mr. Helms seconded by Mrs. Ttbmpssn to re-imburse the City Clerk {or the cost of a Notary Seal, antl the Clerk act as a Notary for the City of Longwood. Roll call vote, Unaminous, motion carried, The City Attorney reported on the pro gross o£ the sale o£ the _ _erty atl,joining the city garage. The, owner will be in Winter Park on February 37th and the matter can be settled. Moved by Mr. Scott sec ontled by Mrs. Thompson authorizing the Attorney to pro pare an ordinance annexing State Rd'. 434 in connection wl th ordinance # 226. Moved Dy Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Helms to Told a special session Thursday FeD. 19th at 7:30 p.m. to consider the 2 ~ S reaoLntion. Motion oarriea. Members of the press reques tetl perm season to ride with police officers at the descretion of the chief. Roqueat granted. Mr. Williamson brought a request Por water lines on Bis dine Ave. - for use in construction of new houses. The City Supt. rec ammended that a 6inch Sine bs instaLled from Oxford Street to East Street. Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Williamson to advertise for bids on pipe, fittings for the project on Bi stllne..AVe. bids to be in City ha11 for the next regular session. Mayor Brown roc ommended that the wator committee work with Mr. Fisher to obtain the best possible price to get the work done on cleaning the property adJoining the City garags.£or the erection of the new tank.. Reguest granted. Moved Dy Mr. Williamson soc onded by Mr. Scott to advertise for bids on re-surfacing the streets in the Longdale subdivision, Ro11 call votes Uanminous, motion carried. - A request for a two story building to be moved into Longwood was pres entetl by the building inspector, Mayor Brown & the building inspector agreed to investigate the house and report to the council. Moved by Mr. Helms seconded by Mr. Scott authorizing the Cemetery Committee to order a map for the Cemetery Dy Barbara Dampier for the quoted puce of $ 100.00. motion carried. Mrs. Thompson reported that she had rec eSved a number of complaints on dogs, The Mayor & Council Chai iman agreed to talk to the County Commissioners regarding assistance in the keeping of stray dogs. Moved by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Scott to pay the bi11s & accept the finincial statement. Motion carried. Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mrs. Thompson to adjourn the meeting.
