CCMtg04-09-70Regular Session, April 9. 1970 zz7 '~ The Longwood Gity Council met in regular session April 9, at 8, p.m. with all Council members, Mayor & City Attorney present. Meeting called to order by the chairman, minutes of pravious me. etings were read & approvetl as read. Mr. Proctor Prom the Burroughs Co, M2s present to explain the amount of money needed to place the 400 series machine under a maintanre contract also to convert tha mac hlne into a water billing machine. He stated that the cost would be approximately $ 2,600. and the. City would not have a desirable water billing machine. Mr. Harold Hartsock C.P.A. For the city stated that i.n his opinion the machine would work and do the Job for Longwood at the present time. No ilirth er action was takan on the matter. Mr. Thomas Gamblin requested permission to place a trailer on his Lots on E. Pine Ave. The Attorney statetl that since the Ordinances does not permit trailers in the City, the area would have to De re-zoned. Mr. Gamblin was instructed to take the matter up with the zoning board. Mr. Tom Napier from Casselberry City Council was present and spoke on consolidation 6F the three Munielpalities in the South end of Seminole County. Dr. Paul Douglas from Rollins College is making a fiasibility stv dy of the area and needs information from each City in order to completethe study, Moved by Mr. H!:lms seconded by Mrs. Thompson for the Mayor of Longwood to forward tha necessary information to Dr. Douglas Pvr a Peas ibi li ty study to be made. Roll Call Vote: Mr. Helms, M1irs. Thompson, Mr. wi lliame on -yes `~ Mr. Brown, Mr. Scott- No, Motion carried and Ordinance # 229 was read in full by the Attorney. Moved by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mrs. Thompson to adopt the ordinance on first reaaing. Ro11 Call Vote: Mr, Helms, Mre. Thompson, Mr. Williamson-yes Mr. Scott, Mr. Brown-- No, Motion carried & Orainance N 229 passed the Pirst reading. Moved by Mr, Williamson seconded by Mrs. Thompson to hold a special session April 16, 1970 at 7:J0 p.m. Por the purpose o£ considering orainance N 229 Roll Call Vote: Mr. Helms, Mrs. Thompson, Mr. Williamson-Yes Mr. Scott, Mr. Brawn- No. Motion carried. Moved by Mrs. Thompson seconded by Mr. Helms to re-advertise for bids on re-surfacing the streets in the Langdale Subdivision, also for bids on Oleander Street STom Marvin Ave. to Overstreet Ave. Specifications to be on file, in City hall; bids to be returned Dy May 1.4th regular meeting. Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Williamson to do cemfnt work, build a fence arountl the shuffle board court as requested by the Tourist C1uD, Motion carriedr Ipoved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mrs. Thompson to place the City of Longwood on the Seminole County Tax Assessment & Tax ebllection roll. Roil Call Vote: Mr. Helms, Idrs. Thompson, Mr, Scotty Mr. Brown-yes Mr. Williamson-no, motion carri rd, The City Attorney recommended the City Engineer be contacted regarding Zoning maps. M1loved by Mss. Thompson seconded by Mr. Wi l3 iamson authorizing Councilman Sames A. Brown to contact the City Engineer regarding zoning maps, including all subdivisions. Ro11 Call Vote, Unaminous, motion carried. A letter from the dept. of Air & Water Pollution control, stating ~'~ J'.' that the City of Longwood is sufficiently re-instated for a sewerage grant was read in £ull by Mrs. Thompson. Moved by Mr. Scott second ed by M11r. Helms authorizing Mr. Fi shat to work with the Straet Committee to negotiate for and purchase a used tractor, not to axceed the budget,n.'}AOton carried. Moved by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Scott authorizing Mr. Fisher to advertise Por bids on the cost o£ pushing a casing under the Atlantic Seaboard R,A. track in order to connect to the new water tank. Motion carried, Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Williamson to acc ept the fi ni ncial statement, pay the bills & adjourn the mesting. Motion carried. Joseph -avis City Attorney. ADSent: Mayor Kenneth H. Brawn, Sames A. Browny N.A. Scott, Moved by Mrs. Thompson seconded by Mr. Helms to elect Mr. williamson as Chairman Pro-Tem for the special session Roll Call Vote: Unaminous, Motion carried.
