Minutes of previous meetings read & approved as read.. Mr. Joseph Masek submitted three bids on the paving of Lake Ave. & Oleander Street for council's'consideration. The bids were as follows; A,C. Scott Construction Co, 16,180.00 ~' .Mid Florida Paving, Inc... 13,970.0© ~,~ Amick Construction Co, 14,160.00. Moved. by Nir. Brown seconded 'by Mr. Ferrell authoriaingthe Attorney to prepare a Resolution paving Lake_Ave. & Oleander Street as requested in the paving petition. Motion carried. Mr. A.E. O'Nea11 was present to discuss the water _& sewerage program. The .City Clerk was asked to write the ,State Board of Health advising them that Longwood is still-interested in sewerage and wished to be kept onthe list... A work session was ann©unced for Apri1,15th. at ]:30 P.M. to further .discuss. water &.sewerage. A.representative from the International Citrus Corp, was present regarding an office..,trailer that had been moved on the property. He .stated that he had been advised by the police dept, that he was in violation of the City ordinance. The<Attorney stated that according to the ordinance that since the trailer was only being used as ~n~Te~~e~e.._~~n.ot ~ ~~:g~hg quarters there was no :violation. Mayor ..Brown stated that Police Chief, Grady Hall had resigned effective April 10, 1969. Mayor Brown recommended the appointment - of Sergeant R.E. Sweat as':actng police chief for a period of 30 days. Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr, Brown to confirm the ~;ppointment. ~. - Roll. call voter Unar~inous, motion carried. Mayor Brown appointed the following persons to serve. on the committee for the preservation & restoration ~f historic buildings in Longwood Mrs. Aldia Ivlilwee, Mrs. Berta Searcy, I+~frs. Nettie 1~cNamara., Mrs.. Blanche Payne, tJlr. Robert narAmond. Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Brown to place ordinance. . ~~ 2I5 on second reading. Roll call vote: iTnaminous, motion carried & the ordinance was read in full by-the Attorney. Moved by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr. Brown to adopt the .ordinance. Roll call Vote: Unaminous, motion ,carried and. the ordinance paeeed the second reading. Mr. Rslph Fisher, Supt, invited the Council members to accompany him on an inspection trip of the city streets, Council agreed to go. Mr. Fisher also suggested that a study be ra.de of the City t© determine just where the new well should be placed in order' to be most effective. The water dept, committee agreed to accompany him on this inspection trip. Bids on the radio for the fire dept. were opened and read. Bids received from G1enMar Electronics Corp. Sc R,C.A, Corp. G1enMar Electronics taas the low bidder, Loved by Mr. Ferrell seconded by 1~Ir, Brown to .accept the bid of G1enMar Electronics upon °study of the bids & the reco~unendation of f ire chief Carl Lommler, also provided G1ex~Iar Corp. met all the specifications in their bi+~. Motion carried, Moved by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr,.Brown to advertise for bids for group insurance for City emplo~[ees, specifications tei be picked up st city hall, sealed bids to be returned to the City Clerk by May ~, I969. Motion carried. Moved by Mr. Ferrell seconded. by Mr. Browm to pay. the bills and ~~- ~~ accept :the finincial statement, Motion carried, Request for Street light on Seminole Ave. Request granted.' Moved by Mr.: Scott .seconded by Mr. ~ Brown for the fire Chief to draw specfic~.tons & send out for bids £or one -self. -contained Air-Pack., one spare tank, 200 f t, of 2 z in. and 100 f t. of l 2 in. fire hose, bids to be in city hall by next regular meeting.
