Regular Session October '9, 3969
The Longwood City Council net in regular ,session October 9th at
gt00 p.m. -
Present; E.E. i~illiamson; H.A. Scott, Eugene Jaques, B.H. Ferrell
James A. Brown, Mayor Kenneth H. Brown, Jr. S. Joseph Davis,. Attorney.
Meeting called to order by the Chairman, minutes of previous. meetings
were read. One correction requested by the Attorney. Mr. Jaques
requested the minutes of the special session to show Chet his absence
was due to the fact that he was not notified of the .meeting. Mr. Jaques
stated that he did not object to what took at the meeting, only to the
minutes of the meeting: Mr. Jaques also stated that some type of
procedure be established for not if ication of council members when
special meetings were held.
Moved by Mr..Jeques seconded by Mr. Scott that the City Attorney draw
a reso ution covering rules to send:notices to council me:-nbers,at least
24 hrs. in advance other than those regularly.scheduled by.certified
`- mail, return receipt requested...Motion carried..
Mr. Albert Land, from Land. Engineering Co. was present and .stated that
the paving of Lake.Ave. & a~:eander Street should be advertised for bids.
Moved by Mr. Brown seconded by Mr. Scott to advertise for bids on the
paving project of Lake Ave. & Oleander St,~ bids to be_..teturned to
City Hall by 7;30 p.m. October 30, 1969. Motion carried,
Mr. Joseph Masek requested the council to place a moratorium on the
building of duplexes an the R-I residential district. Matter ref erred
to .the zoning board for shady and recommendation.
Mr-. James ,C. Gamble appeared before the Council and requested that
Lots l through i0 in ildmere Manor be-included in the B-1 Business
district as it was originally advertised. He stated that he was not
asking for. special favors but equal treatment with other property
owners in the proposedzvning,

letter received from~3ack Sharpe regarding. the condition of the
water tank located in Hialeah, Fla. that the Committee had recently
inspected was read by the chairman. Moved by Mr. Jaques seconded by
Mr. Brown to instruct the Engineer to advertise according to law

for bids on the removal & erection of the water tank from Hialeah,
also to advertise for bids on a new 2,I~Q.~,000 gallon tank, bids to
be returned to City Hall by October 30, 1969. Motion carried.
Bids on pipe & fixtures were opened S~ read. Firms bidding were as

Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Brown to accept the icr;a bid of
B ~ H Sales, inc. in the amount of ~ 2,905.$1 I~?otion carried.
Moved by Mr. Jaques seconded by Mme, Brown to purchase 25 additional
chairs for the counczl. chambers, funds to be taken from .the parks
& grounds fund. t~fotion carried,
Mayor Brown recommended that the City purchase an add in the
progress addition of the Sanford Herald, he stateo. that. in his
opinion it was a goad public relations pr®ject,
Moved by Mr. Jaques to place an add in the progress addition of the
Sanford Herald an the°amount of ~ 75.00. The chairman relinquished
the chair ir_ order to second the motion.

setting l~ovember 13 at 7:30 p.m, as the date for public hearing

to come before the council sitting as an equilazition board
as to special assessments on Lake Ave. ~ Oleander Street. Motion
carried.
The A~Ctorney stated that the properties. on which i~'inr_-Dixie Store,
.Texaco Filling Station & t~€ebb's Pharmacy is zoned R-2 residential,
Moved by Mr. Jaques seconded by Mr, Scott to rezone Lots l through
21, Bloc. "A" Talmo'Re-i'l~t, also the`1ega1 of the property described
in ordinance ~~ 159 to C-Commerical, public hearing to be held Oct. 30
.1969.. Motion carried. ..
Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. Brown to advertise for bids on
an asphlat spreader and tar machine, bids to be returned to pity
Hall `by October 30, `1969, Motion carried.
Moved by Mr, Ferrell seconded by Mr. Broczn to .pay the building
inspector the balance ofwthe modes collected to date for inspections
in the amount of $ 470.32

Fire Chief, Carl Lommier recommended that the chassis of the tanker
be returned to the Florida Forestry sErvice. Council agreed with
this recommendation.

statement & pay the. bills, Motion carried.
