The Longwood City Council met in regular session February 1 at
8 : Cpl P.~.
Present: E.E. i~illiamson, James _A. Browr_, H.A, Scott, B.~t. Ferrell
Eugene Jaques, Mayor Lormann, Gene R. Stephenson, Attorney.
Meeting-called to order by the chairmars, minutes of previous
meetings ~=ere. read approved as read.
Councilman Eugene Jaques stated that he hid received petitions
with approximately 60J names requesting H.D.. Shinn be re-instated
a s. police chief. of Longwood, ar~d moved an behalf of.these petitions
that this be done. The City Attorney ruled :sir. Jaques out of order.
.stating that Longwood had a police chief; however the petitions
could be sub*ritted. The petitions were accepted by the Chairman
.and turned over to the Gity -Attorney.
Moved by NIr. Brown seconded by Mr. Scott to appoint Gerald L. Pierce
as the Police Chief for the.City of Longwood. -
Roll Ca11 dote: A11 members voted yes, Mr. Jaques abstained.

Mayor Lormann stated that he had received a letter from C3range Co.
regarding a study that was. being conducted on the problem of solid
waste matter disposal. Interest of other communities regarding
this. matter was requested. Mayor Lormann was a~t~orized to write
a letter advising Orange County that the City of Longwood is inter-
. ~ ested, Moved by fir, Ferrell seconded by Air. Scott to accept the
finincial_stat~~ent & pay the bills, transferring ~ 2,t~CQ.40 from
the Excise Tax & Rev. Isnp. Fund into the General Fund. Roll call
vote was unaminous, motion carried..
dir. Jaques requested .permission to purchase six tires for the
- Chevolet dire 'iruck. The matter was postponed for ~ng~her I~on'~~.
moved by Mr. BrQ~~n seconded by Mr. Ferrell.to adjourn the meeting.

?Meeting, called to order by Chairman ~w~illiamson, who announced
that the purpose of this :rieeting was to discuss the prob~lens of
the water dept.. Mr. Brown announced that the anticipated revenues
for the fiscal year of 167-b8 were approximately ? 8`~% short.
This si',.t)rta~,e was due to three reasons: 1-proposed ar_nexation not
a reality. ~-Hines ~ Forfeitures short. 3- dater recen'ae based
on an expected raise w'~.ich had been placed in the b~~zdget. "€'he
finance cor~,m.ittee recora~zended a basic rate for water at ~ 3.5~ per

draw an ordiraance increasing the water rates to ~ ~,5~ per Month

Mr. Brown recommended .that the funds in the street ~ ~.~ater Bond

instead of time deposit in order to get more interest. Matter
referred to the finance conrnittee to handle as they- see fit.
