Mr. C3' ~;eall stated that he had. checlted all bids and recot~immended
that ~~~ contra:ct be awarded to Grange Paving & Construction Co.
M'~°, C'i~Teall stated the cost of the pauing to the adjoining
property o~~~ers would be approxi~tately Y 3.50 per loot. Mir. J.L.
I~'ellinger, Mr. .earl ShoT~ers, & Mr. Joseph C. Connell stated that
the property owners objected to paying ~ 3.543 par ~oo~.. Moued by
Mr. ~ro~an seconded by Mr. Scott, due to the objections, to abandon
the paving project and adjourn the ~-eeting. Motion .carried.

A resolution authorizing filing of .application with the Federal
dater Fellation control. A.d~~inastra~ion, w,as read in full. Moved
by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr. drown to adopt: th.e resolution.

Attorney, Gene ~.. Stephenson reported on the land-i~.ll purch~?se

that dry trash and no wet garb~.ge would be taken to the land-fill.
dir. t~oodrow Prescott owner of tho property wishes to continue to
remove cl~.y from the pit after the City purchases it. .The matter
referred to .the, City Attorney.
Mr. Clau~P Be~.ch was present requesting a donation for the ~'3oy Scouts",
i~Ie stated that S 2fl0.U~J was needed to purchase. tents and eQUip~nent,.
however any amount the City could donate mould be appreciated, The
matter was. tabled ~~ntil ail Council zne~nbers are present- and the City's
finances are checked. Fire Chief, Cari Lo~*.~r.ler stated that. the fire
truck had passed ill the required tests, however all the equipment had
r_ot been received. ~~ayor Lormann, Mr, Brown & Mr, Ferrell ne~~otiat'ed a
loan with the. Florida State at interest rate of 42% to ?~a'~e payment
when the truck is accepted. Mr. Lom~-nler presented Mayor Lormann with
a check in .the amo=ant of ~ 1,00~.C0 for ..payment on the truc'_~c by the
~Iolenteer Fire Lept. ~?ayor Lormann turned the check over to the City
~.-- Clerk to be deposited in the bank.
Mr, ~oi~ley complained about saw dust blowing over his business property
on Charles Street. Mayor Lormann recom-~ended that the Fire & go-lice
Chief invAstigate the situation to determine what could be done,
Moved by Mr, Brown seconded by Mr, Scott, that upon recommendation of
the mayor, Mr. Grady mall be appointed permenant Police Chief of the
City of Longwood. doll ca11 vote, unaminous, motion carried,
Moved by l~~r, Brown seconded by. Mr. Scott, that upon recoin~nendation of
Mayor Lormann that Gene R. Stephenson be appointed to serve as 1~€unieipal
Judge at a salary of ~ lUt3. (3~J per month.. Motion carried.
The resignation of Gene R.. Stephenson as City Attorney was. read by
Mayor Lor~aann. A resolution expressing gratitude and appreciation
to Gene P.. Stephenson for his past services as City Attorney and
future services as Municipal judge, was read in full by the Ma3~or.
