.~ Regular Session December 5, 1968 The Longwood City Council met in regular session Aecember 5th ___ at 8:00 p.m. Present: E.~, Williamson, H,A. Scott, Eugene Jaques, B.I. Ferrcell James AB Brown, Mayor T~enneth H. Brown, Jr. ~` Joseph Davis, Jr. City Attorney. Meeting called to order by the Chairrctan, €oinutes of previous araeetings read.& approved as read. Mr. Vern Hahn wanted to know whether oY not the City Yaad an ordinance prohibiting the loading & un-fading of trucks during all hours of the night in residential areas. Moved by~I~r® Scott seconded. by Mr. Jaques authorizing the City Attorney to prepare. an ordinance to control parking of large vehicles in residential: areas, Motion carried. Mr® Samuel Hodge approached the Council regarding a variance in the zoning for a carport to be built within 2 f t, of the lot line.. Since the zoning board had turned hifn down, he was advised to contact the owner to see if they wished .to proceed with the building according to the zoning ordinance. ~.r. Terman was present and wanted to know rules & regulations in regard to the building of houses & the paving of streets on um- i~-proved lots in the City. Since the council is in the process of updating the zoningrequirer~ents, Mr. Terman decided to wait until a later date. Mr. Stake from the American food Products was present to discuss the pawing of Marvin Ave, from Hwy. 427 hest to the Railroad. The Council stated that the .County had agreed to furnish labor and equipment, City of Longwood tb furnish materials. `fihe County. estimated. the cost of a Z~ ft, pavement to be approximately., ~ 6,750. a 30 ft, gavement $ 7,504. Mayor .Bro~an & James A. Brown t ~ L f . ~t agreed to meet with the County Engineer to further discuss the matter, especiailq the drainage of the Street, Moved by James A. Broc~n seconded. by H.A, Scott authorizing the Attorney to advertise a public hearing for ,Tanuary 2, 1969 at 7:3© p,m. regarding the proposed changes in zoning, amending zoning. ordinance ~~ 143. Motion carried.. Mayor Brown was authorized to contact Barbara Dampier in the County Engineers office regarding the ordinance extending the boundaries of the City, Moved-by Mr. Brown seconded by Mr. Ferrell to place the money in the paving fund, also. the Cemetery fund into pass book savings accounts, Motion carried. Moved. by Mr, Brown seconded by Mr. Jaques authorizing the City Clerk to contact the Florida State Bank for the due date of payment on the fire truck,, and pay the amount from the general fund, Motion carried. - Moved by Mr. Ferrell seconded by Mr. Jaques to-pay the City Supt., and the City Clerk two weeks pay in lieu of vacations, with the stipulation that the,Council adopt a pmlicy on vacations and abide by its Motion carried, Mr, 3ames ~. Brown submitted a paid bill in the amount of $ 1,147,80 to be retained in .city records for the paving of Seminole Ave, & Grant Street, this ,was .the final bill, Moved by Mr, Scott seconded by Mr. Ferrell to allow the City to spend 5£3.00 from the parks & grounds fund for the Christmas partya Motion carried. Moved by Mr, Ferrell seconded by Ids, Jaques authorizing the fire chief to advertise for bids on a high frequency radio, sealed bids to be in city hall by 4;30 p,m. Janugry Z', 1969.. _MOtion carried. Police Chief Grady Hall requested a~90 days leave of absence in order to recouperate from a back injury, Mr, Hall recommended the appoint- ~'`~~ spent of Mr. Arnold il.liams as acting Chief .during his absence. Mr. Tu~illi=~ar~s application was turned over to Mayor Brown for study and recornrr-endation. Moved. by Mr,. Ferrell seconded by -- I~r, Brown to pay the bill's & accept the f inincial statement, ~..r. also to authorize the City Clerk to take additional money from the general fund needed to pay the Bonds. motion carried. Meeting called to order by I~Tr,~Jaques acting chairmans The purpose of this meeting was to appoint a ~'olice Chief during the " absence of Grady Halls Moved by Mrs Scott seconded by Mr, Brown to'appoint ~lernon Stanley Brewster as temporary Poliee Chief during. the absence of Grady Fall upon the recommendation of Mayer Brown. Motion carried.
