Present: E.E. ~illiaanson; Eugene Jaques, Percy White, John Ueaton. Paul Maloney, Attorney Gene R. Stephenson. Heating called to order°by the chairman. Minutea Qf previous meetings read ~C approved as read, - An ordinance of the-water department amending section of ordinance ~~ 152 'was read in full by the chairman. Hoved by Hr. Seaton seconded by-Mr. ~~illiamson to adopt the u ordinance. Roll c_a11: E.E. Lormann for Mayor of Longwood. by Justice of the Peace Al Davis at the re- 8rganizational meeting of the City Council January 5 at 7:45 p,m. Mayor Lormann then administered the oath of office to Donald Conway. and H,A. Scott, also to City Clerk Onnie R. Shomate and Tax.~:Gollector Roy W. Shomate. Mr, Lormann acted as temporary chairman while a permenant one was elected. Secret. ballots. were cast and. Mr. Ti~illiamson was elected by 4 votes, Mayor Lormann stated that it was a unaminous vote for Mr. i~illiamson. Mr, Williamson took the chair and called the meeting to order. Mayor Lormann appointed Gene R, Stephenson as City Attorney and ~3,D. Shinn as Police Chief. The resignation of Brian A, Snow as fire chief was read by Mayor Lornann. The letter stated that th.e fire dept. had elected Carl Lommler as fire chief - - and James ~~ter as assistant chief. Mayor Lormann recommended that r the City Attorney draw up a resolution thanking Mr, Snow for his services rendered to the City during his term as Chief, also a copy be sent to Mr. Snow's Commanding Officer of the iJ,S. fi?avy, 'The .Attorney. agreed to do so. .A letter from the Nationwide Insurance Co. ..regarding up-dating the Cityss Insurance needs was read by the Chm. Mr. ~lilliamson appointed the .City Attorney the Mayor & Councilman Eugene,Jaques to serve on a committee to meet with Mr, McIntosh, insurance. agent on this matter, Moved by Mr. Maloney seconded by Mr. Scott. to authorize the Florida ~.~. Williamson yes Lotion carried. The chairman announced a public hearing on the paving of Reider Ave. also a request in zoning of Lots 6-7-1~-14 Blk. f'C" ~~ildmere Addition. from Residential to Co~.r~ercial for January 26 at 7:®0 p.s. fir. Ralph Clendenir_; president of the Citizens progress association was present and`r~auested the Council's perrnissian to use the nsme of i7Longwaod' in their association, The City attorney stated that area at the rate of ~ I.25 per month rental charges.
