Williarc~son, H.A. .Scott, Eugene Jaques, Ronald Conway Mayor Lorrna~in, Gene P.. Stepl~enso~°~, Attorney. Muting called ` to order by the chairman, min9stes of previous meetings read &~ approved as read. Mr. A.E. Q't~eall tzzas present to discuss the progress made to date on t'ne feasibility study for City sewerage, Mr. U'?~eall brought the master plan map showing locations of treatment plant, lines & lift stations and stated t'~at such ~ systen was feasible for Longwood , & estimated the cost at 1 3/~ million dollars. He proposed the treatment plant be located north of the present Gity lin-its ~C suggested the City consider the purchase of a ten acre tract of land sor.~ewhere near the 'Big Tree Fark". Mr. C'~eail stated that Longwood. weeded sewers in every open street and that he esti..mated the populat~.on of the Csty to be approximately 3, 3Qfl at the present tij-r~e, and that Longwood would continaze to grow. The possibility of Federal aid to finance sewerage would be discussed: with t~?e department of Housing ~ urban level®pment. Mrs. :Geri ~ibsrrsan inquired about the possibility of fcEa,..sPP being permitted to be open on "stew years Eve". The council took the matter under advisement. Mr. Japes A. Frown. su'omitted a plat for Gouneil's aa~proval for I2 homes to be built ~ known as "grange Terrace." Moved. by Mr. Jaques seconded by Mr. Scott to accept the plat upon receipt of deeds in order that Credo street could bQ made a SQ ft .Street, Also Seminole Avenue extended. Roil call vote was unaYninous, motion carried. Mr. Carltian J. h? ttaker requested the Longwood Hitel --- liquor license to be transferred frog ~,.T. Hunt,' Jr. into his name sinee he was the new owner. ,moved by ~~r. Scott seconded by P?r. Conway to transfer the license. Roll call vote was unazninous, s V Motion carried. The monthly report of the Fire dept. was read by P~Ir. Jaques. Mr. Jaques made the following recommendations to the,Eouncil regarding "Shady Side Park" ~. Install a 6 f t, fence around the property, with keys available at the Police. Station for anyone desiring to use the park. 2, Enclose the present structure for meetings by various Civic. groups,.&,citizens of the community. The total cost not to exceed $ 1,000. Moved by Mr. Jaques. seconded by Mr. Scott to spend $ 1,000 for the improvement of "Shady Side Park". loll call vote was unaminous, motion carried. Mr. Jaques suggested the expenditure of $ 150,00 for permenant type Christmas decorations for. the City. Moved by Mr. Jaques seconded by Mr. Scott to authorize. the expendture of $ 150.00 'for Christmas. decorations. Motion ~earried. Bids on a used dump truck for the City were opened & read. Bids received as follows; Naney Chevrolet .Inc, 19f~ ~~truck $ 1.,295,00 Strickland Morrison 4963 truck $ 2,29^5.00 Woodrow Prescott 1963 true_t $ 1,500.00 Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by Mr, Jaques to purchase the truck from Woodrow Prescott for his bid price of 5 1,500.00, Motion carried.. Mayor Lormann issued an Election Proelamat~on for the Municipal Election to be held in the Council Chambers of the City ?all. Polls to open from 7;00 A.M..close at 7.:00 p,m. Election to be held I~ec. 5, 1967 A letter from;the Vol, Fire Dept. regarding the annual Christman party was read. Other groups, Churches, Clubs etc. will be invited to participate, ___ Bids on Insurance as specified pursuant to Chapter 76-40.8, Florida Statutes, were opened & read. -Bids received from Ben`Griff in & Associate; ~~;~~vY Nationwide .:Insurance Co. for eovera~e of the Police Personell. A petition from 10 property owners owning the properties abutting.. Oak St. So, of i•7ildan.ere Ave.. to Overstreet Ave. Overstreet Ave. East to Grant St. & Grant Street ~o. to Wildniere Ave. request® ing the City council not to pave the aforesaid streets as request- ed in their petition sub~aitted to athe Council May 7, i96~,was read by the chairman. The chairman announced t'raat requests to pave Wayrnan Street had ~.-. been received.. It was descided to contact the Engineer for. an estianate on paving layman Street frown Orange Ave, to Longdale Ave. T`he monthly report of the Polioe~ Bept. eras read by Mayor Eoz~.an_n. Moved by N1r. Conway seconded by Mr. Scott to accept the f inincial statement ~: day the bills. Motion carried. Loved by Nir. Conway seconded by Mr, Jaques to transfer ~ 3,OOC.OC from the E.T.R.I. The City Attorney was authorized t® . prepare an ordinance regarding registration,q'licensing for use of bicycles in the city, also to check the ordinances prohibiting horseback siding on the sidewal?ts in the city. The Att©rney reported on his progress with the State load II~ept. regarding a s traffic light at the intersection of State Roads ~~~ ~ x.27¢ a?~d stated. that he would continue to negotaite in order to find a more reasonable price for the city.
