The Lonwood C=_tp Council met in regular session Z~ecember 7,
at ~:OQ p.gn. ~ ,
Present: E.~. Williamson, Eugene Jaques, ~.A. Scott, Donald
Conway, Mayor Lorma.nn, Gene R. ~tepnenson, Attorney.
Meeting called to order by she chairman. i~Iinutes o~ previous
meetings were read and approved as read.
~Ir, Reese Lanier from Lani er Systems, Inc. Baas ngesent regard-
ing the 3-M copi E?r for use in tree Clerk.'s o~fice. Moved by
i~r. Scott seconded by ~Ir. Jaques to purchase the copy machine
from Lanier Systems, znc. for their price of ~ ~99.QQ. Roll
Gail vote was unaminous, motion carri€~d.
:mss, John ~~.nner wa.s present on behalf of the C~ristr~.as party to
*-~ be held for rtne children of the city. Moved by l~r. Jaques
seconded by Mr. Contiaay to donate ~ 5Q.(3Qto the ~iole~iteer ~ irc~
~;ept. for the Christmas party. Motion carried,
Mr. Rodney Adams appro~.ched the council to annex his property
consisting of ~ acres lying South of Marvin Ave., into t'ne City.
?'fir. Adams started tb.at he planned to build 6 houses on the property
and would donate 25 ft. in order that Marvin Ave. could be made
a 5Q ft, street, also to donate a 50 ft. strip down the center if
the city would open ~ grade. 1~Ir. Adams was advised to submit a
written req=asst for annexation to be acted upor_ at the r_ext regular
^ meeting of the council. f .
`~Ir. C,J. ~~hittaker was present regarding bars being permitted to
remain open on 1~ew Year's 8e~ve~~ 'The Council Chairman stated .that
ors ordinance wa.s in effect opposing the sale of ~lcholic beverages
on Sunday ar~d that it spas the council°s decision to abide 'by the
car~-~ nahces,
"lhe City Attorney was instructed to prepare the necessary papers
reque;stio~~~nere of unsafe Sc unsightly buildings to repair or
demolish them, starting by December 15th,1967
A letter fxom A.E, O'T~eall & Associates stating that the estimated
cost of paving W`ayman Street from.Orange Ave. to Longdale Ave. was
$ 12,d~J0.~3~ Moved by Mr. Jaques seconded by Mr. Scott authoriz.-
ing the City Attorney to prepare a resolution for the proposed
paving. Roll ca11 vote was unaminous, ~n~tion carried.
Moved by I~~. Scott seconded by Mr. Jaques to raise the salary of
Ralph Fisher, City Supt. ~ 5~.~0 per Month effective December 1.
Roll call vote was unaminous, motion carried..
The fire dept. report ~~as read by Mr, Jaques..
Mr. Jaques asked about the progress of annexation. Moved by Mr.
Jaques seconded by 1~'tr. Scott authorizing the Attorney to prepare
the necessary resolutions to annex the properties under discussion.
Motion carried.
Moved by Ms. Conway .seconded by Mr. .Scott to pay the bills with one
exception, and accept. the finincial statement. I~totion carried..
The police dept. report was read by Mayor Lormann.
Moved by Mr. Scott seconded by i~r. Jaques to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried.
