Eug~rae Jaques to .accept fir, BrodericL~ .as a patrolman. for a salarjt of
300.00 per montl!. retroeative to February 1, 1966. Nbotan carried.
A. letter fro~a Gx°iffin. ~x harper Insurance agents was read in full by
the ChaErman, ~'he council had ~;oted t+o a~ccep~ the bid of the
nation-wide Insura~?ce Co. a~ the January meeting, ?~o~re~er ~o poly ci es=
have been received to this date. Griffin & lIarper had been covering
the Gity since November 1, 1965, and stated that they could no longer
do so without payment. Moved by Eugene Jaques seconded by Paul
Maloney to accept the bid of Griffin & Harper for .the Gity's Insurance
for the ensuing year as of l~ovember 1, 1965. Motion carried. Moved
by John Deacon seconded by Eugene Jaques .to pay the statement of
Griffin & Harper im the amount of ~ 2,698,65 Motion carried.

Jack Bushor reported the continued vandalism of the Street'Signs
and requested permission to use his private. car,-using city gasoline
in order to try and catch the G;~.tlty parties, since the police car
was so easily identified. Moved 'by Eugene Jaques seconded by John
Denton to grant this reguest. Motion carried,
The matter of John Deacon authorizing the Grader to be repaired at
a cost estimated at ~ 1,500.00 ens discussed at len~~h, Mr. Jaques
stated-that other Cities in this locality spending over ~ 100.00
required the. approval of the council, and requested that this be the
policy in Longwood., Moved by Eugene Jaques seconded by E.E, Williamson
that anyone spending aver ~ 1130,00 must coins before the council for
approval. Motion carried. Mr. E.E. T~illiamson called attention to
the need ~f sidewalks 'in a section of the City near the Elementary
school. Moved by E,E. Williamson seconded by Eugene Jaques to .
authorize the street committee. to investigate the cost of side-walks
on Orange Avenue from Grant Street to Highland Street and fron
Highland .Street to the Longdale Subdivision. Motion. carried.
