Regular ~~ssion November 10, 1966
The Longwood City Council met in regular session Nov. 10,
1966 at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Percy White, Paul Maloney, Eugene Jaques,
Absent: John Seaton, E..E. Williamson
Meeting. called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of the previous
meetings were read and the chairman objected to the petition that
Mr. gonald Brooks has presented t"b the Council at the regular
session October 6, 1966 being copied inter the minutes because it
was not read when presented, also that the'I5 minute recess was for
the discussion over the bills, not the police dept. The Clerk
stated that the minutes would be corrected and the chairman stated
that they would be accepted.
Estimates on the paving of Orange Ave. and Reid.er Ave, were read by
the chairman. Mrs. Sadie Proehl wanted to know if it would be possible
to pave Raider Ave. to include her lots in order that she could
sell the 'property, she stated that she would be glad to pay for it.
The Chairman stated that another public hearing will be held
regarding the paving project, a date to be announced later. Mrs.
Proehl also wanted to know who was supposed to maw the property
that; she donated to the City. .The chairman stated that the City
should mow it.
Mr. Charles`Mclntosh from the Nationwide Insurance Cos was present
and thanked the Cou,~cil fir the Insurance business. ~e requested
that the Council meet with him in an informal meeting to gd over the
policies to answer any questions The policies were delivered in
accordance with the bids and at the same prices.
An Qrdinance determing a budget of expenses for the City of Longwood __
Florida, for the epsuing year was read in full by the chairmen.
.Moved by Mr. Jaques to pass the ordinance to its second reading.
Motion died .for lack of a second. ^

interest that will be due and payable December 1, was read by t~.e
chairman. Moved by Mr. Jaques seconded by Mr. Maloney to pay the.
bond & interest. Motion carried.
Mrs. Agnes i~leber, representing .the Civic League wanted to know how
the Criminal Code would affect their club:
the City Attorney was not present at this meeting, due to~illness,
however the chairman stated tn.e he would come to their next meeting
and explain the Code~to them..
The monthly meeting of the Fire Dept. *aas read in full` by the
chairman.
An Eiection_Proclamation of the Municipal Election to 'oe held
=December 5th, was read by the chairman. The registration book is
open and Candidates see~ting election must qualify by noon Nov. 26.
Mr. Lawerence Swafford was present with~the necessary deeds to
extend the LongwQOd-Markham road to Hwy 434 from Stum's Corner.
Moved°by Mr. Maloney seconded by Mr. Jaques to turn the deeds over
- to the City Attorney to be checked before the City accepts them.
Motion carried. '
Mr. ??arry Shannon wanted to know what-was being done about the
garbage cans being left in Jessup Ave. The chairman stated that
the matter had been turned over°to the Attorney.
Mr. Ralph Clendenin. asked about qualifying to run for City Council-
man. He has been temporarily out of the State, but maintained his
home in Longwood. Mr, b7hite suggested he talk to the Attorney.
Moved by Eugene Jaques seconded by Mr. Maloney to accept the.
financial statement and-pay the bills.. Lotion carried. Moved by
Mr. Jaques seconded by Mr, Malnney to adjourn the meeting. Motion
carried.
