An ordinance fixing the Budget of expenses for the City of Longwood for the year 1966-67 .was reac'~ in fu11 by the chairman. Moved by Mr. Jaques seconded by Mr. Deacon to adopt the ordinance. Dept. regarding ~anepies being constructed over the right-of-way in~the curb & gutter section of the job through Longwood, and the conditions .to be met was read in foal by the Chm, A letter from the Police Dept. ,calling attention to the Il~angerous conditions at the R.R. Crossings because of the, lack of ~~Stop'', signs. was also read. Moved by Mr, Jaques. seconded by Mr. Maloney to purchase the requested signs to be installed at the R,R..crossings as recommended by the Police Dept. Motion carried. The water dept. Superintendent requested the purchase of 54 concrete meter boxes. Moved by Mr, Deaton seconded by Mr. Jaques to grant this ~~s~p ~)L request. Motion carried. A letter from Mr. U.~. I~Siilican regarding the unsightly condition of vacant lots & property in Longwood. was read by the chairman. The matter was ref erred to the acting Mayor to get them cleaned. Council Chairman, Percy White announced a public hearing on the paving of Orange &~ Rei der Avenues to be held ]~'ecember 15th at 7 :00 p.m. An ordinance entitled ;'Criminal C~~~~,©f Longwood"-provisions & penalties'' was read in full. 'The monthly report of the Longwood fire dept. was read by the,Chm. Moved by Mr. Maloney seconded by Ntr. T~Iilliamson to transfer $ 10,000..0( from the. Excise Tax & Revenue Imp. Fund into .the General Fund. Motion carried. l~toved by Mr. Deaton seconded by Mr. Jaques to give the City Clerk help in order to get the `Tax statements sent out as soon as .possible, Motion carried. ~ ~ ~ _~ 1+ir. Cliff Jordan Courthouse Committee Chairman-of the South Seminole Jaycees was present and asked the Longwood City Council to take some stand on the location of the new Courthouse. H.e-requested the s Council to send a letter to the .County Commissioners requesting them to consider a more: central loca~ion. The Chairman asked each .member of the Cou_~cii ho~i they felt in the matter & ,they each ~~~~~!~~:~ ~~?~~ they wished to stay out of the controversy. I~Ir. Deacon objected to a bill of ~ 230.48 by the water-dept, being spent without approval of the board, moved by~~r.
