The Longwood City Council met in regular session January `7,
at 8:00 p.m.
Present: Carl L'ommler, R.C. Carlson, B.H. Ferrell,`B.L. Helm,.
J.C. Reams, A.R. Lormann
Meeting called to order by chairman. Minutes of previous.
meetings read & ,approved as -read;
Moved by Ferrell seconded by Helms to pay the various bills
and accept the finincial statement. Motion carriedo
A plaque was presented to outgoing Mayor, A.R. Lormann by
Chairman R.C. Carlson from members of the city council. '
Moved by Reams seconded by Ferrell to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried. The oath of office of Mayor was aaministered
to David R. Wentworth by A.R. Lormann, Notary Public. The
of office was administered to councilmen R.C. Carlson and
irPercy White by Mayor Wentworth. The oath of office was also
I~administered to Oxinie R. Shomate as City Clerk, fireasurer,
Tax Assessor and Roy W. Shomate as Tax Collector. Ballots
were cast and R.C. Carlson was elected as president of the
council by a vote of 4 to 1. The president took the chair
and called the meeting to order. The invocation was given by
Rev. Jack Lindsay of th.e First Baptist Church of Longwood,
Mayor Wentworth appointed the Honorable Webber B. Haines as
City Attorney and Claude Layo as City Marshall. Moved by
~Lommler seconded by Helms that the appointments be confirmed.
Motion carried. .Mayor Wentworth then administered the oath
of office to Claude Layo as Marshall.
A resolution providing for the paving of Maine Ave. from
East Lake Street to Grant Street and providing for the method
of assessments was read in full by the president, Moved by
Ferrell seconded by White to adopt the resolution No. 158 as
read and the date of public hearing be set for February 4 at
8:00 p.m. Ro11 Call:.. Percy White, yes

Motion carried and resolution No. 158 was adopted. !~
Moved by Lommler sesonded by Ferrell that the street department
~be authorized to obtain estimates on the cost of a concrete
approach on Wayman Street connecting with Orange Avenue.

city hall as followsL 11.:00 A.M. to 1:30 n.m, on Monday, Tuesday

Thursday & Friday. The-president adjourned the meeting until

groper zoning. for the property of Charles Hayr_es located on
West Sanlando Springs Dr. in order that 2 stock car race..,
