CCMtg06-03-65Regular Session June 3, 1965, The Longwood. City Council met in regular session June 3, at 8:15 p.na. Present:;'Percy White, Carl Lommler, B.H. Ferrell, B.L. Helms, Mayor Wentworth. Meeting called to order by president pro-tem. The oath of office was administered td John C. Deaton, newlq elected councilman, by mayor Wentworth. Ballots were cast and voting for a, president were as follows. B.L. Helms one vote Percy White one vote John C. Deaton one vote - Carl Lommler two notes -Mayor Wentworth declarad Carl Lommle to be elected president of the city council. The meeting was then called to order by the president. Minutes of the previous meetings read and approved as read. A report on the progress of the zoning committee in selecting a zoning board was given by Percy White and B.L. Reims. Name: that were submitted were as follows: Willard Young, Fred L. Stickels, Richard Zartman, Ronald Baker. A meeting will be arranged at a later date to discuss the matter further before) a zoning board is selected. ~, The president announced that the low bid on the police car was for a second line car, therefore for the difference of $ 125.00 a first line car was purchased from Hollar Motor sale of Sanford. Moved by Ferrell, seconded by White to instruct ~. the City Clerk to file all paving liens on .all properties abutting streets .that have been paved in the past and those paved to the E.uture. Motion carried. W.F. Litke, building inspector, asked for a replacement while on vacation. Moved by White seconded by. Helms to appoint John Farina to serve as temporary building inspector during Mr. Litke's absence. Motion carried. Moved by Helms seconded by Deaton to instruct A.E. O'Neal) Associates, Inc. to proceed with plans and specifications for the city's water plant facilities. Motion carried. A petition signed by 19 legal residents of residential zone R--1 in Longwood, petitioning the city council to take action to prohibit the use o~ driveways and streets for par~.ing large trucks and trailers. Matter tabled for further study and investigation. i ~ ~ A petition signed by 8. property owners residing on West Jessu Ave.[reguesting the city council to discontinue ball playing in the street was~read by the president. Referred to John Deaton and B,L. Helms for furl~~er study and recommendation. A letter from Mayor Glentwotth requesting the council to consider appointing a`night2me patrolman for the city at a salary of ,5300.00 per momthawas read, in full by the president -The matter was tabled until June 10th before a decision is ma Moved by Deaton seconded bq Helms to instruct the city clerk to order the following books: State Statures of Municipal court, Traffic Court procedure and administration. The matter referred to the water committee for further study.
