CCMtg08-05-65~~ Regular Session August 5, 1965 The ,Longwood City Council met in regular session August 5, at 8:00 p.m. Present: John Deacon, Percy White, Carl Lommler, B.H. Ferrell B.L. Helms Meeting called to order by the president. Minutes of previo s meetings read and approved as read. The president announced that the .plans for the aeration and chlorination of the city s water system were completed and that a meeting with the city engineer would be arranged at an early date to discuss them in detail. Moved by Deacon seconded by Ferrell to request new bids on 5s0 ft. of 22 in 600 1b. test fire hose, with samples of hose submitted, bids to be in city hallby 4:00 p.m. August 26 1965. Motion carried. A letter from Alfred DeLucian and afjouning property owners on the East side of 17-92 objecting. to the re-zoning of Lots 12 through 21 Block "A" of the Talmo Replat from commercial ii to R-2 residential was read by the president, The matter I ~. referred to the .planning and zoning board. Requests for street lights on East Bay and East OrangeAvenues, feferred to street committee. A letter from James E, .Jewell, ocaner of the structure on Lot 142 of the Original Plat of Longwood, givin~l permission to the fire dept. to burn said structure was read by the president. Moved bq Deaton seconded by Helms to Znstru the fire dept. to refuse Mr. Jewell's request because of the danger to the surrounding buildings,, Motion carried, A letter from the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce thanking l the Longwood City Council members for th:eir_interestUand ~ support of the Bietropolitian telephone systen read by the president. Mr, White stated that because of the many complair. analogs,within the city, something should be done regarding new dog ordinance. The City Clerk was instructed to write f~x a copy of the Altamonte Springs dog ordinance for study and comparison. Mr. Deacon reported the mead of additional stop signs thro out the city. Moved by Deaton seconded by White to purcha 25 stop signs for the present time. Motion carried. Mr. Deaton stated that 128 feet of 30 inch concrete re-inf is .~ Ir. Deaton read section six_,of the city zoning ordinance no. 43 entitled: "Visibility at intersections in residential istricts", and called the council's attention to the hedge at he intersections of~Jessup and Magnolia at Grant. Street. As hairman of the street committee he stated that this hedge was o view and a traffic hazard, and moved that this hedge be rem 1, n compliance with this ordinance~if it beca-ne necessary to t he matter to the State supreme court. Moved by Beaton seconded by Helms to order 500 maps 8'-~xll in s 25 of the reduced size 30"x 21" also 4 large ,canvass back maps Motion carried. Mr. Harry Law xegv.es.ted permission to park a trailer within t~e city limits on the Markham road. The matter referred to the i'oard of adjustment. ~7.F. Litke, building inspector, made a report~to the council regarding a number of houses within the city of ~ . Longwood, that should be condemned and requested that some member or members. of the City Council accompany him to make an inspecti~ln. Referred to the buildings,parks,ar_d grounds committee. Meeting adjourned subject to call. Canvassing Board The Longwood City Council met as a canvassing board Wednesda, .August 11, at 8:00 A.M.. Present: Carl Lommler, Percy White, S.H. Ferrell Absent: John Deaton, B.L. Helms. The Election Clerk announced the results of the voting as fo lows: B.E. Black-276 votes !A.R. Lormanr_- 193 votes. Moved by White seconded by Ferrell to accept the results as announced by the election board. Moti carried. Mr. Lommler, Council president, declared the winne~for Mayor of the City of Longwood to be Mr..B.E. Black. The prelident adjourned the meeting..
