As hairman of the street committee he stated that this hedge was o view and a traffic hazard, and moved that this hedge be rem n.compliance with this ordinance_if it became necessary to tak he matter to the State supreme court. Present: Carl Lommler, Percy White, B.H. Ferrell Absent: John -eaton, B.L. Helms The Election Clerk announced the results of the voting as fo B.E. Black-276 votes A.R. Lormann- 143 votes. Moved by White seconded by Ferrell accept the results as announced by the election board. Moti carried. Mr. Lommler, Council president, declared the Winne Mayor. of the City of Longwood to be Mr. B.E. Black. The pre adjourned the meeting.. for ent Adjourned Session August 11, 1965 The Longwood City Council met in adjourned session August 11 at 8:00 p.m.. B~.ack The president announced that the Citp Council will sit. as an equalization board`August 26, at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Harry Law stated that .his request to park a house trailer on the Markha road had been withdrawn. At the regular session of the Longwood City. Council held August 5, 1965 Councilman John Deacon called attention to an instance where young mother with a 20 month child, that had reportedlq had/~,~~ its fingers E'cut off" and being new ir. the City had called the police dept. for. assistance in gettir, to a Doctor, and had been denied help. Nlr. Deaton asked the ,Council members and the Police dept. this question.: " What i the correct procedure for a person to do in order .to declare ,anemergency in the City of Longwood"~ No action was taken at this meeting, however at the adjourned session held August 11 1965, the Mother(Mrs. Nancy Summersill had been summoned with~~'..:.• v the Child) regarding the incident, since the Police Clerk d having received any such call on the date of the accident, also a statement by Mrs. Ruth Layo(Police Clerk) that assistance hlld never been denied anyone that had called. for help. Mr. Dea cited the fact that the summons was dated incorrectly andi~aas snot signed and issued without authority. He repeadtly asked ir. Mr. Layo stated that he received his author~ty (from the City Charter and the Council., he further stated that (took his orders from the City Council. Mr. Layo also stated that he was a Deputy of Seminole County and therefore could anywhere in Seminole County. ~~ After ~ lengthy discussion the president called for a vote of confidence of the police dept. by the city council. Black re- quested Mr. Layo. not to resign due to political pressure, Mr. Layo stated that he would withdraw his statement of resignati~ Council President, Carl Lommler announced that for the best interest of the City, and for the Moral of the fire dept, he was removing John Deaton from the fire dept. committee. Black Absent: B..H. Ferrell Meeting called to order by the president. W.F. L-itke, building inspector, reported on the request by Mr. Harry Law to build a metal pre-fab home in the City. He suggested a minor change in the wiring, but stated that the house met the City ordinance and Codes, there it could not be turned down. R.C. Blount approached the council regarding permission to erect a structure in which to build concrete picnic tables. Referred to the planning and zoning board. Bids on the fire hose opened and tabulated. Bids received frc the following: ABC Fire Equipment Co. Lee Blanchard Municip Roger.B, Quincy -I After checking samgles submitted and compared :-.'the ABC was the choice. Moved by Deaton seconded by Helms to purchase 500 ft of D.J. 600 Lb, test 22 inch "Blaze Guard11 hose from the ABC Fire Equipment Co. as per their quotation and sample of August 23, 1965.
