After ~ lengthy discussion the president called for a vote of
confidence of the police dept. by the city council. Moved by
Ferrell seconded by Helms to give the police dept. 'z. complete
vote of confidence.

he would submit his resignation. Mayor elect B.E. Black re-
quested Mr, Layo not to resign due to political pressure, Mr.
Layo stated that he would withdraw his statement of resignati
Council President,. Carl Lommler announced that for the best
interest of the City, and for the Moral of the fire dept. he
as removing John Deaton from the fire dept. committee.

The Longwood City council met in adjourned session August 2b,1
at 8:00 p.m.
Present: John Deaton, Percy White, Carl Lommler, B.L. Felms,
Mayor B.E. Black
Absent: B..N. Ferrell Meeting called to order by the
president,.. W,F. Litke, building .inspector, reported on the
request by Mr. Harry Law to build a metal pre-fab home in
the City. He suggested a minor change in the wiring, but
+stated that the house met the City ordinance and Codes, there ore ,
it could not be turned down.
R.C. Blount approached the council regarding permission to
erect a structure in which to build concrete picnic tables.
Referred to the planning and zoning board.
Bids on the fire hose opened and .tabulated. Bids received fr~
the following: ABC Fire Equipment Co. Lee Blanchard Municip 1 Supplq
Roger B. Quincy
After checking samples submitted and compared ::'the ABC was the
choice. Moved by Deaton seconded by Helms to purchase 500 ft
of D,J. 600 lb. test 22 inch "Blaze Guard" hose from the ABC ~
Fire Equipment Co. as per their quotation and sample of August.

~A letter from the Volenteer fire dept. recommending Brian A.
read by the president.
Moved by Helms seconded by White to appoint Brian A. Snow ~~31
fire chief with the stipulation of a letter of approval fromS
the Legal. Officer of the Sanford Naval Air Base. Motion
carried.
Percy White stated that 2300 ft, of 4'inch water pipeand thr
(3) fire hydrants are needed for the City's immedia~euse,
Moved by Beaton seconded by White to advertise for bids on
2300 feet of 4 in. fastite emameline class 150 pipe with
necessary fittings,;andi three(3} firehydranrs, Bids to be i
City hall by 4:00 p.m., September 9th, Motion carried.
Moved bq White seconded by Denton to clean all fire hydrants
thoroughly and purchase sufficient luminous paint to paint
them red. Motion .carried.
Moved by Denton seconded by White to install street light on
pole no.4BB940 East Bay Ave. pole no. 4BB1064 on East Orange
Ave. be increased to 4400 mercury vapor also a light on pole
no.4BB629 on Overstreet Ave. Moved by Denton seconded by
White to request bids on 1000 ft, of 2'~ in. 600 1b. test fire
hose, one 2'~ inch versitle nozzle screen and fog for fire
station. Motion carried.
Mayor Black requested; Clerk of the police court needed
immediately. Moved by Denton seconded by White to employ a
Clerk of the police court for ~ 50. per month. Motion carries
Moved by White seconded by Denton to authorize the Mayor to
carry the City Ordinances to qualified Lithographer's for bid
Motior_ carried. Mayor Black stated that the County valuation.
of the Citp propertq was unfair and that the Council should
employ qualified appraisers to appraise the entire City
property in the immediate future.
Moved by Denton seconded by White that the fire dept kitchen
be cleaned out and furnished sufficiently to be..used as a
temporary police dept. Motion carried. Moved by fielms.s econ~
by Denton to accept the tank truck from the Florida Forestry
service. Motion carried.
Moved by Helms seconded by Deacon to adjourn the meeting.
