L•. ''Helms:, Carl Lommler, Mayor Black Meeting called to order by the president. Minutes of previo meetings read & approved as read. Bids orgy the aeration and Chlorinaticn facilities for .the water system were opened and tabulCted. Bids received from Saine' Co. for part Y1~"" and '"C"' and from Jack Sharpe_`_' Inc. for part °A'", the bids totaled 20,82.for the complete job. Moved by Helms seconded by Deaton to turn the bids over to A.E. C'Neall Associates, Inc .for checking & recommendations. Motion .carried. Pfr. White- announced that the city should consider using tr-ansite-water pipe and suggested that bids be sent out agair_ in order to receiv prices on transite pipe & cast iron pipe. Moved by ~dhite: seconded by Deaton to request the firms submitting bids on the aeptem er . 9th request to withdraw their bids and new ones be sent out. Motion carried. The council president announced that a re~~.i st for an add in the Sanford Herald for tY~e progress addition h~d been received. Moved by Helms seconded by Deaton to purchase an add in the progress addition of the Sar_ford Herald for a price of ~ 75.00 Motion parried:. The petition that had been received requesting that the ball playing on West Jessup Ave. be stopped was again discussed. ~ tiioved by D~atona~~.~cznded by White to take the necessary step to stopthe ball playing in the street as requested. P+lotion carried. ~i letter from I~ir. U.V. isillicar_ calling the pouncial~'s attention. to the conditicn of the property across the street9 from his home on East Lake Street was read by the president.j~ The street department committee-chairman assured Mr. Millican that the matter would be taken care of Ordinance No 131 supplementing Ordinance No. 163 of the City{ of Longwood was read in lull by the president. ""An ordinanq providing for the regulation, i~aecination, licensing, and II control of dogs in tree City"". White stated t?-iat the City Charter does not state that a chairman is necessary made a motion that Nir. Lommle:r bey relieved as chairman and the Mayor preside over the meetings in order that each council member might have a department to run. Mr. Deaton seconded the motion Roll Call.. Moved by White seconded by Deaton to change locks to the doors and also the combination to the safe in the Clerk`s office. Motion carried. Nicved by Deaton seconded by Helms to raise Jack Bushor-'s salary to ~P 360.00 per month, James Morris to ~, 125.00 both retroactive to September 1, 1965 and to raise Charles O'Ilell'~ i salary to ~P 125.00 beginr_ing Getober 1, 1965. Mr. Deaton read a petition signed by 191 registered voters of the city requesting the Governor to order a complete audit ofd the City of Lor_gweod, including the fire & police deaprtmentsl Mr. Deaton asked theis question. .,any has the fire Chief not given the Mayor an inventory of the fire department that he I~ I had asked for-2 includixig tree amount of the funds .also the ~' bank that is used as tree depositcryr Nir. Deaton asked for- a complete inventory of .the tools and all supplies in the street department,. he also requested the autr~ority to employ an extra man for the street department to be paid ~ 2.00 per hr. Moved by Helms seconded by ti~hite to grant this request. Motion carried. Moved by Seaton seconded by Fielms to ir_struct the city engineer to check the street and d=ive a sstimate of the cost of the paving at the October 14th meetin Motion carried. Mr. John H. Harmer appeared before the councl objecting to the recommendations of the zoning and plar~ing board regarding his property that had been read at an earlier council meeting. T}~e council president admitted that the article eras in error and asked the zoning board to make a correction. Meeting adjourned subject to call. Equilization meeting Oetober 14, 1965 The Longwood City Council met as an equilization Board October 14th at 7:00 p,m. Present: John Deacon, Percy i+~hite, B.H. Ferrell, B.L. Helms B.H.
