The council met in regular session Oct. 3-, 19,57 at 8:00 P.M.
Present: E.C.' Carlson, J. R. Eeiter, H. A. Scott., S. E.
Johnson, E. E. Williamson.
Minutes of the regular session September 5 and adjourned - 'i
regular session September 19, 1957 were read and approved.
S~lreet markers for the corner• of Grant and Magnolia and Pasa na
were requested. Esferred to Street Committee.
Motion by Mr. Williamson seconded by Mr. Scott-that Building
Permits be granted to. G7. D. Bridge, Carl Lommler, and Hubert
B. Severs. Motion carried.'
James .Gamble requested that Maine Street be opened. Motion
by Mr. Johnson seconded by Mr. Williamson that the matter of
opening Maine Street from East Lake to Grant be turned over
to Street. Committee for consideration,
Ordinance No. 135 entitled an Ordinance Fixir~ the Budget
of Expense of the Town of Longwood, Florida for the year 1957
was read in full by Mr. Carlson. Motion bt Mr. J hnson
seconded by Mr. Eeiter that Ordinance No. 135 be adopted as
read. All members of the council voted yes.
Motion by Mr. Eeiter seconded by Mr. Johnson that the rules
be suspended and Ordinance No. 135 be read by title. All
.members of the council voted yes. Ordinance No. 135 was
passed to its second reading and read by title only by Mr. -
iCarlson. Motion?by Mr. J hnson seconded by Mr. ScotiG that
(Ordinance No. 135 be adop~ed. All members of the council
voted yes..
Motion by Mr. Johnson seconded by Mr. Scott that the rules
be suspended and Ordin~nee No. 135 be passed to its third i
reading. All members of the council voted yes.
Ordinance No. 135 was read in full by the chairman. Motion
by Mr. Johnson seconded by Mr. Eeiter that Ordinance No. 135
be adopted as read, All members voted yes. Motion carried.'
Ordinance No. 136 fixing the. rate of taxation was read in ful~
by I~ir. Carlson.
Motion by Mr. Eeiter seconded by Mr. Johnson that Ordinance
No. 136 be adopted as read. All members of the council voted
yes.

Motion by Mr. Johnson seconded by Mr. Williamson to appropr~-
~te the unexpeni~ed balance at the end of this fiscal year
~owards the town's share of the expenses of the paving of
Church Street. Eoll was called and all members voted yes.

Addition to Aereage.'! was read in full by the Chairman.
Motion by.Nr.. Scott. seconded. by Mr. Johnson that Resolution
No. 133 be'adopted as read.: Roll was called and all members
of the council voted yes. Motion carried.
Several street lights were requested. Matter'`was referred to
Street Committee.
Motion by Mr. Johnson seconded by Mr. Williamson that the
various bills be paid and financial statement be accepted.
Motion carried.'
