Jean. ~2 #~ The Pres, stated he had called the meeting at the request of•~ the Mayor but had no ~.owiedge of its purpose, the ~aayor .addr,ess-' ed the Council recommending that some form of resolution be I) passed and ser_t to the Govenor expressing willingness of all~+ of`f'icials to cooperate in defense measures. rie also read ,circular from State Board of Bealth regarding protection of ~j public water supplies, ;Th.e Triayor also asked the Council to make '.donation to the Red cross drive. j Councilman ~iarris introduced the i'ollowing RESOLIITION Nc 72 ii and moved its adoption. ~u#~tion duly seconded by Councilman - l Payne and unanimously passed. 1`he Resolution:. being. i:a words ?~ and figures as follows; I '~R.~AS: In the present emergency, tYs ';large centers must, of necessity,. take the lead in most matters Hof public safety and defence; but, numerically speaking, the ~~ ismall communities are greater than the large thruout our great ;country, and in the present crisis there is a distinct and de'~f- ~inate role to be played by each, however large, or .however small,, !.that a solid and completely unified whole may be achieved. ij r.t~RErORE, BD IT R~~ULV~D: 'T'hat while this may seem but the ~! ;proverbial drop in the bucket, never-the-less, this body wis3~es ; jto emphatically state to His Excellency; i~ovenor ~pessard h. iHolland, that we are ready, willing ar_d anxious to do our part din any and all things he has under way in tre defence progra~ i i at this, or any fuf;ure time, in this eour_ty or town.
