The Longwood City Council met in regular session July 6 at 8;00 p.m.

Meeting called to order by the ..chairman, minutes of previous meetings
read & approved as read..
Mrs. Sadie Proehl was present and again requested Reider Avenue to be
extended as the council promised three years ago when she deeded 25 ft.
to the .City for that purpose. She stated that she had continued to
pay taxes on the property and could not sell the lots because of. the
street not being extended, she has also mowed the'street during this time
The matter was referred to the street department.
Mts. Geri Hitsman stated that she was unable to .obtain a liquor license
from the`State at this time and requested her license fee to the City
- be refunded. Thy Council granted this request,
- Mr. R,E. Sweat complained about a truck load of trash .left near his
property. Mr. Sam Hodge requested the trash pick-up be changed from
Friday to Monday.. The matter will be discussed with Ralph Fisher
City Superintendent..
Mr. B.L.: Helms was present and wanted to know when. the"assessment
resolution on sidewalk would be passed in compliance with the City
Charter.- Mr. Hehas wanted to know whether or not abutting property.
owners would be assessed for the sidewalks. The chairman stated that
no plans to assess the property owners had been diseussed~ and no .plans
•~ for public hearings were anticipated,
Bids on the fire truck were opened and' read. Firms bidding-were as

Bids turned over to the Fire Chief & f ire .dept. com~uittee for
° study & recommendations.

A contract will be in City Hall before August 1, and will be the
sanne as .previous years. Council agreed to renew the contract.
Mayor Lormann read the list of r_ames submitted for the zoning board
as follows; Fred B. Blanchard, Robert F. Ha~amond, B.L. Helms,
G.E.' Strickland, Richard W. Zartman. Moved by Paul Maloney seconded
° by Donald Conway to approve the names as submitted.

Mayor LQrsnann.stated his pbjections to city employees taking pay in
-Lieu of vacations & requested council to discontinue this ~ractiee.
Moved by Paul Maloney seconded by H.A. Scott that beginning ~iov. 1
1967 no pay in lieu of vacations for city employees would be granted.
Motion carried.
Paul Maloney reported that the Cemetery fence was again, in need of
repair. Council gave Mr, Maloney permission to authorize the repair.
Visibility at the intersection of State Roads 434 & 427 was again
discussed. It was agreed to request the State Road Dept. to conduct
a. survey in order to get something done.
Moved by Donald Conway seconded by Paul Maloney to accept.the finincial
statement & pay the bills, Motion carried,
The monthly fire report was read by t'ne chaii~an.
Moved by Paul Maloney seconded by H.A. Scott to adjourn the meeting.
