BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LONGWOO➢, FLOAIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1; That Exhibit "A of Ordinance No. 143,
being the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance of the City If
Longwood, Florida, be and the same is hereby amended by the
addition of a new district classification to be known as HD
A, of the District. The purpose o- this
District is to protect existing residential development and to
maintain a desirable character of such development within the
Historic Erstrrct of the City of Longwood. Incompatible uses
should be excluded from this Dr strict and rehabilitative and
good maintenance should be encouraged. Characteristic struc-
tures in this district are one and two story buildings of the
Victorian Era (late 188D's). They were built of fine woods and
by good crafrsmen. They are not overly extravagant in taste
but have a simple dignity and beauty. Typical of this Constru -
tion are such things as pointed roofs, wide porches, wide dove
bay windows, decorative shingles, hand carved supports and
"ginger bread" designs.

nigbt use and situated in such a manner as to avoid the crea-
tion of a potential hazard for streets, roadways or driveways.
b. Such telephones do not obstruct any
public sidewalk or pedestrian way.

C. ted Signs. Subject to sign regulations of
the City of Longwood, Florida:
1. Usua1 signs to identify the owner of occupant
of a dwelling or building.
2. Customary church signs.
3. Customary real estate ox lease signs.
4. Signs for business if lettering is no mote
than one foot in height and no larger than 6 feet by 6 feet.
5. Signs in connection with new cons t_uc tron
work and displayed on the premises only during such time as the
actual construction work is in progress.
6. No business sign will be allowed to extend
over a street or alley.
7. No business shall be allowed more than one
sign in front of a building,except for small parking signs
poles or any other unapproved supporting struc tares, except
for official notification s g s of the City.
9. Illuminating signs are permitted but none
shall be larger than 6 feet by 6 feet.
10. No flashing signs are permitted.
D. HIight, Al —and Yard Requirements. Lot site and
set backs shall be those of the B-1 Business District of the
City of Longwood, Florida. No building over three (3) floors
shall be permitted.
D. Historical Commission. To implement the provi-
sions If this ordinance, the City Council If the City of
Longwood, Florida, is hereby authorized to create and organize
a Commission to be known as the Historic Commission, to be
appointed by the Mayor of said City with the advice and consent
of the City Council and to be composed of five members, all of
whom shall be citizens of Longwood with the exception of one
member who might be a resident of the Central Florida area.
The members of the Commission shall be appointed as follows:
The Mayor o a designated member of the
city Council.
The Chairman or designated member of the
Zoning Boaid.
The P sident of a designated member of
thercentral Florida Historical
Rres —tion Society.
A zen citiand r sident of Longwood,
preferably a member of the Central
Florida Historrcal Preservation
Society.
A citizen and resident of Longwood.
Whenever the term of a member expires or a
vacancy otherwise occurs, the Mayor shall appoint his successor
for the —Pired term. Each of the members of said Commission
sha11 be appointed for a term If two years and shall serve
without compensation. Members shel1. continue to hold office
until their successors have been appointed and qualified; pro-
vided, however, a y ember m y be removed from office by
majority vote of the City Council, when in the judgment of the
City Count it such member fails to perform his responsibility
as a member of the Historical Commission.

Commission shall have for its purpose the preservation of such
buildings in the Historic District of the City of Longwood,
Florida, as in the opinion of said Commission ahal.l be deemed
to have architectural and historical value, and which buildings
should be preserved for the benefit o£ the people of Longwood
and the State of Florida, and to that end the Commission sha11
be given such powers and duties as the City Council of the
City of Longwood, Florida, sha11 deem fit and necessary.
