RESOLUTION 25-1707
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA,AMENDING
AND REPLACING RESOLUTION NO. 15-1373, WHICH AMENDED
RESOLUTION NO.94-748,CONCERNING THE BUSINESS PERSON OF
THE MONTH AWARD; RENAMING THE AWARD TO "THE BUSINESS
PERSON OF THE QUARTER;" UPDATING THE AWARD FREQUENCY
TO BE PRESENTED ON A QUARTERLY BASIS; REVISING THE
NOMINATION PROCESS TO ALLOW NOMINATIONS BY ANY CITY
COMMISSIONER; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on February 21, 1994, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 94-748
establishing the "Longwood Business Person of the Month Award" to recognize outstanding
business owners and local businesses for their contributions to the community and to promote
positive relationships between the businesses and the City; and
WHEREAS, on March 16, 2015, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 15-1373
amending the program to recognize honorees and present the Longwood Business Person of the
Month award on a bi-monthly basis; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission now finds it appropriate to further amend and modernize
the program to ensure consistency with other City recognition initiatives; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission desires to rename the award "The Business Person of the
Quarter" and to align the frequency with the City's Beautification Award schedule; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission further desires to revise the nomination process to allow
any Commissioner to nominate a business, replacing the existing rotational nomination system by
district; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission desires to encourage broader participation and recognition
of exemplary business leadership within the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Amendment and Replacement. Resolution No. 15-1373 is hereby amended
and replaced in its entirety to read as follows:

Award and Recognitions:
A "Longwood Business Person of the Quarter," approved by the City Commission, shall be
recognized quarterly at a City Commission meeting for outstanding business achievements and
contributions within the City of Longwood.
Process for Nomination:
Nominations for the award may be made by any individual City Commissioner. The
nominee shall be selected and approved by a majority vote of the City Commission.
Public Acknowledgment:
The Award recipient shall receive an official Award of Recognition from the City of
Longwood for their exemplary involvement within the community. The recipient's name,business,
and photograph shall be featured on the City's official website and/or social media platforms.
SECTION 2. Conflicts. All resolutions,motions,or practices in conflict with the provisions of
this Resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3. Severability. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or provision of this
Resolution is held invalid or unconstitutional, the validity, force, and effect of the remaining
portions shall not be affected or impaired.
SECTION 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
