ORDINANCE NO. 08-1875 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY ~OF LONG'WOOD, FLORIDA, DETERMINING 'I'H[E AMOUNT OF AND FIXING THE RATE OF AD VALOREM TAXATION AND MAKING THE ANNUAL TAX LEVY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 2008 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 200.9, PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SE;VERABILITY AND EFFECTIVE DATE. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That the amount determined by the budget as necessary to be raised by ad valorem taxation in the City of Longwood, Florida, for the operation and expenses for the administration of the affairs of the City i~; the sum of $5,478,946. SECTION 2: That the millage for the Fiscal Year 2008/2009 is fixed at 4.99 mills which is a decrease of 6.8856 per cent iFrom the current year rolled back rate of 5.3595 as computed in accordance with F.S. 2,0(1.065. SECTION 3: That there shall be levied aid collected by the City of Longwood, Florida, for the Fiscal Year commending'October 1, 2008 and ending September 30, 2009 upon all NON-EXEMPT TAXABLE PROPERTY within the corporate limits of said City, a tax of 4.99 mills on each dollar of non-exempt appraised value for the purpose of realizing a sum sufficient to fund the budget and meet and defray the necessary operating expenses of said City for the ensuing Fiscal Year. SECTION 4: That the gross taxable value for operating purposes not exempt from taxation within the City of Longwood has been certified by the Seminole County Property Appraiser to the City of Longwood as `.81,155,774,041. SECTION 5: That all ordinances, or parts of ordinances, in conflict herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed. Ordinance No. 08-1875 Page 2 SECTION 5: If any section, sentence, <;lause or phrase of this ordinance is held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall i~n no way affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. SECTION 6: Thies Ordinance shall become effective on October 1, 2008.
