A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD,
FLORIDA, REGARDING SPECIFIC APPROPRIATION 471
IN FLORIDA SENATE BILL 2600 REGARDING PASSIVE
STRATEGIES FOR NITROGEN REDUCTION, AND
URGING GOVERNOR CHARLIE CRIST TO INCLUDE
THIS SPECIAL APPROPRIATION 471 IN THE 2009-2010
FLORIDA BUDGET; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the, study on recommendations on passive strategies for nitrogen
reduction that complement use of conventional on -site wastewater treatment systems is
yet to be completed; and
WHEREAS, completion of this study is crucial in protecting the Wekiva River
and its contributing springs and potentially all environmental areas of concern throughout
the State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida budget for the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2009-
2010) allows for the completion of the study with already existing funding designated for
this study from the current Fiscal Year in specific appropriation line item 471; and
WHEREAS, the 'desire of the Cif:y Commission is to keep property taxes as low
as possible for home and business owners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City
of Longwood, Florida that the Mayor and City Commission implore Governor Crist to
allow specific appropriation line item 471 to remain in the Florida Budget for fiscal year
2009-2010. This resolution shall take effect on the date of its adoption.
