1. Call to Order. Chair Shoemaker called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes May 1, 2007 Regular Meeting.
.Member Hunter moved to approve the minutes as submitted. Seconded by
Member Manor and carried by a. unanimous voice vote with Vice Chair
Driver absent.
3. Public Participation. None.
4. Old Business.
A. Recreation Manager's Report.
Ms. Meli reported Summer Camp was full and there is a waiting list for every
week. She said Bluegrass was well attended last month. She reported there will be
an AARP Driving Class offered the week after next. She advised Smallworld Park
was taking shape. She .gave an update on the parks. She said there will be a new
sound system for Reiter Park once it is completed. She stated most events will be
held at Reiter Park upon completion. Family Movie Night will be starting on
Thursday evenings in the Community Building. She said Tennis Camp will be
starting soon and will be held every other week. She reported the Oil Painting
Classes were coming along very well.
Chair Shoemaker inquired about Flower Arranging Classes.

Ms. Meli said there has not been enough interest in Flower Arranging Classes to
~ date. She said. they were planning on adding craft days for children. They want to
build the art programs. She welcomed any ideas from the Board.
Ms. Meli reported a Farmer's Market was discussed at last evenings Commission
meeting. She advised this was being looked into and Commissioner Anderson has
agreed to research the idea of a Farmer's Market.
Member Putz inquired how many of the; Board Members would be interested in
having a Farmer's Market.
Chair Shoemaker said she believed all board members were interested and in
support of a Farmer's Market.
Member Putz said competition with area businesses was discussed during the
Commission meeting. He stated competition was great.
Discussion was held regarding a Farmer's Market.
Member Manor suggested addressing tl-iis at the next meeting since it is being
looked into at this time.
Chair Shoemaker said concerns needed to be expressed at this time.
Ms. Meli said when Commissioner Anderson has more information it will be
discussed further.
It was the consensus of the Board to support a Farmer's :Market with Member
Driver absent.
Chair Shoemaker moved to select a representative from the Board to speak
to the Commission. Seconded by Member Uliano and carried by a
unanimous voice vote with Member Driver absent.
Member Uliano said she would nominate the Chair to represent the Board.
Discussion was held whether to address the Commission during Public
Participation at a meeting or by memorandum from the Board.
Member Uliano suggested sending a memorandum to the Mayor and
Commissioners.
Ms. Meli said, as a Board, they could take a stand and let the Commission know
how they feel about the issue.

Chair Shoemaker moved to table the motion to speak to the City
Commission. Seconded by Member Hunter and carried by a unanimous
voice vote with Member Driver absent.
It was the consensus of the Board to send a memorandwn to the Mayor and
Commissioners that the Parks and Recreation Advisory :Board support the idea of
a Farmer's Market in Longwood with member Driver absent.
Ms. Meli said Rock the Park was a rainy evening and was a small event. She said
they probably need to make this a family event because the younger children are
going to come. She reported the conce:;sions being provided by Babe Ruth went
well.
5. New Business.
Ms. Meli said the next event is National Night Out, the first Tuesday in August. It
will be held at Candyland Park. She stated they were working on contacting
businesses and there will be approximately 20 businesses at the event. She said
the First Baptist Church of Altamonte Springs has been contacted and they may
be supplying all of the inflatables for the event. There wall be a rock climbing
wall, crafts by Home Depot and the City, and the Police Department will have
cars there. She said the Homeowner Associations will be involved with the event.
She said the Commissioners will be cooking for the event. She advised there
would not be a Board meeting that evening._She said the next scheduled meeting.
is July 3rd. She inquired if the Board would be in favor of cancelling the July
meeting.
Chair Shoemaker moved to not meet in July. Seconded by Member Uliano
and carried by a unanimous voice vote with Member Driver absent.
Ms. Meli said the next scheduled meeti~ig will be in September.
Member Hunter said they needed to advertise well the event being at Candyland
Park. He suggested placing directional ~;igns.
Chair Shoemaker inquired what was goring on with Halloween and the Fall
Festival.
Ms. Meli advised the one gentleman they were working with will be using his
warehouse space. She said they were w~~rking on another place. She advised it is
possible they may lose. Booville. She suited she would keep the Board apprised.

6. Adjournment. Chair Shoemaker adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.
