1. Call to Order. Chair Shoemaker called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes Septemb~zr 4, 2007 Regular Meeting.
Chair Shoemaker moved to approve the minutes as presented. Seconded
by Member Manor and carried try a unanimous voice vote.
3. Public Participation. None.
4. Old Business.
A. Recreation Manager's Report,.
Ms. Meli reported Futsal was growing <<nd Tennis has started again now that
school was back in session. She advised the decision was made to go ahead with
the Haunted House. They have met all building code and fire requirements. She
affirmed the Building Inspector and Fire Marshal are involved and will be
conducting inspections as they construct the Haunted House. She reviewed the
setup for the Haunted House. She stated if this does not work, they have ideas of
changing to a Haunted Village in the future. She said there would not be a
Booville this year. The Haunted House will be open on Friday, October 26~',
Saturday, October 27~', and on Halloween night. The Fall Festival will also be
held on Halloween night. She reported they will have food vendors this year and
the vendors will be paying a fee.
Chair Shoemaker inquired if they would be showing a movie.

Ms. Meli said they would not be showing a movie. She reported they~would bey
~ having three movies this fall. She discussed the games for the Fall Festival. They
~ will be handing out bags of candy.
Chair Shoemaker .said she would volunteer.
Member Uliano volunteered to have fliers dropped off at Longwood Elementary
School.
Member Manor said she would speak to the principal at Woodlands Elementary to
see if they can accept fliers.
Ms. Meli said they were partnering with. Chambrel tomorrow and would be
holding a Harvest Moon Ball for Seniors 55 and over at the Community Building.
There will be a band and refreshments. She .reported that Senior Matinee has been
moved to the afternoons and attendance has tripled. Jazzercise Light is going well
and the.instructor is working with Mr. C'apizzi to do some other exercise
programs. She said the Community Building was in high demand and not always
available.
Member Manor inquired if the Chambers would be available for events.
_ Ms. Meli said they could use the Chambers for some events. However, all Board
~ and Committee meetings are held in the Chambers.
Member Putz said the Historic Civic Center was available for rent and suggested
Ms. Meli check into its availability.
Ms. Meli reported Celebrate the Seasons would be December l~`. The event will
be the same as previous. She said they were working on new crafts, and there
would be .approximately two hours of entertainment. They will also be holding
raffle drawings.
Chair Shoemaker suggested holding the raffle drawings between performances.
Ms. Meli said they have two hours to seal raffle tickets and the funds raised from
the raffle ticket sales go to the Longwood families in need. She stated the tree
lighting would be at 6:00 p.m. and their goal was to have people stay for the
lighting of the tree. Celebrate the Seasons will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. She said
they were looking for a Santa volunteer.
Vice Chair Driver volunteered to be Santa.
Ms. Meli said she would have more information at the next meeting. She .advised
Linda Jacobs would be holding a class tl.iat morning on building a holiday candle
center piece. The cost of the class will include materials. Ms. Jacobs will also be

conducting the crafts for Celebrate the Seasons. She reported Ms. Jacobs teaches
~ Oil Painting Classes Friday evenings and Saturday mornings that are going very
well. The Oil Painting students will be holding an art show in the Community
Building the third Saturday in October.
Ms. Meli reported that Santa visits Longwood on December 8th & 9th. December
. 7th will be the first movie at Candyland ]Park. The movie is to be determined. She
advised that Bluegrass would not be held in December. She said Bluegrass has
been going. very well.
