Ordinance 198 j ORDINANCE NO. 198 ~r . r AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORI:DA,.PROVIDING I,J FOR THE REGULATION OF HORSES, PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCE- , MENT OF THIS ORDINANCE, AND PENALTY TO VLOLATORS. BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LONGWOODx FLORIDA: 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to run or race any horse or like animal, or suffer or permit any horse or like animal I to be run or raced to harness or saddle upon the streets of the city. 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to allow, suffer or permit a horse or other like .animal upon the sidewalks of the City of Longwood, except as be necessary for crossing same. 3. No person shall leave on the streets, within any fire district, any horse or other like animal, without securely hitch- ing or fastening~it to a hitching post or to a. suitable iron anchor or weight, unless the animal is left in, charge of some competent person. The chief of police or any policeman finding such animal unhitched and unattended shall rerr:~ove it to the city pound for safekeeping. 4. It shall be unlawful to hitch a hor~.e or other like animal to any shade tree, awning post, veranda, post or fence; provided further it shall be unlawful for any person. Penalty Any person who owns or ha:; control of any horse or like animal and fails to €;uard or keE~p the same in such. ICI manner as not to endanger the persons, property or health of the public, or of the neighborhood where kept, shall be guilty of , a misdemeanor; provided further ~f 6. That any person, firm or corporation found guilty of _ e -one - - F . violating this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not exceeding $50.00 (fifty dollars), or' imprisoned for a term of not exceeding 7 (seven) days, or by both such fine and .imprisonment., 7. Any ordinance or parts of ordinances. in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. 8.
