Resolution 06-1141RESOLUTION I%;0. 06-1141 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, PROPOSING USE OF THE 2006 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (.JAG) FUNDS FOR EXPENDITURES RELATED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Longwood has applied for a Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) in the amount of $18,886 for the period of I Oi 1/2005-9/30/2009, and WHEREAS, an advisory board designated to review the proposed use of the grant funds has recommended that the monies be directed toward the purchase of equipment essential to the law enforcement operation of the City of Longwood Department of Public Safety, Police Division. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED B Y THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City of Longwood requests of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, approval -:o proceed with the obligation and expenditure of the 2006 Justice Assistance Grant funds in the amount of $18;886 for the purchase of digital video equipment essential to the law enforcement operation of the City of Longwood Department of Public Safety, Police Division. SECTION 2: CONFLICTS. All ordinances or resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY. If any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this resolution is determined to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, said determination shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force or effect of any other section, paragraph, sentence, clause, plv ase or word of this resolution not otherwise detennined to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional.
