Call to Ortler, Chair Shoemaker calletl the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 2. Approval of Minutes July 6, 2004 Regular Meeting. Public ParticipMion. None. s. ola easiness. A Parks 8 Recreation Manager's Report. Ms. Meli reviewetl a map of the city owned property on Myrtle lake. She stated the Boartl had requested she investigate the possibility of this property being tlevelopetl as a park. She reportetl it woultl not be feasible to tlevelop this property as a public park. Ms. Mell reported the Summer Day Camp was very successful. She stated there was a wailing list the entire summer. She reportetl that National Night Out was very su cessful. She statetl there were over 500 meal tickets hantletl out. c P&R 9-~-200411 Ms. Meli said the Hauntetl House Scoville, antl Carnival were scheduled for Fdtlay, Opober 29a through Suntlay, OMOber 3181, 2004. Discussion was heltl regartling the Thanksgiving food tlrive. Ms. Meli saitl she woultl like to explore the possibility of some of These funds being designatetl for chiltlren attentl'mg summer camp. Discussion was heltl regartling School Community Service. Ms. Meli stated they would be using volunteers from the schools, provided the student is on the preapproved list. Chair Shoemaker moved for the Board Members to be preparetl next meeting with suggestions for the Fall Festival. Seconded by Member Richartlson antl ran'ied by a vote with Members Driver. Meng, antl UI anomabsentce Ms. Meli statetl the Arthritis Foundation would be holding a Jingle Bell Bark, Walk, antl Crawl on the same day as Celebrate the Sea s. She saitl there would be a SK antl then a pet paratle. Celebrate the Seasons will start at 2:00 p. m. She reportetl the city woultl be working in conjunction with the Arthritis Foundation antl they would be atlvertising together. Ms. Meli reported the Parks and Reuealion Board woultl have to reschedule the November meeting tlue to Election Day. She reported that softball was going very wail. She saitl there woultl be another AARP driving Gass In Ocmber antl the Bluegrass Plckin' woultl be held on September 18'". 6. New Business. A. Discussion-FRDAP Gran[Application; Reiter Park. Ms. Meli advised the city was applying for a FRDAP grant for the vation of Reiter Park. She reviewed the site plans for the ovation explaining that the ball felds would be removed, as well as the tennis courts. She statetl the ball fields would be locatetl at Candylantl Park antl the tennis courts would be relocatetl. She statetl all the active recreation would be alorg the street sitle antl P&R 9-1-2004/2 the pas ealion would be placed closer to the dwellings. She pointetl oul the trails on the plans, stating that Reiter Park and Cantlyland Park would be wnnected by the trails, She announced there would be a Public Informational meeting held on September 16°i to review plans antl inform the public of the renovations to Reiler Park. 7.
