Chair Shoemaker opened the Floor for Dominations ofChair. Member Driver nominated Chair Shoemaker Saonded by Member White and carried by a unanimous roll call vote with Vice Chair Belair absent. H. Elation of Vice Chair. Chair Shcemaka opened the floor for nominations of Vice Chair. Member Driver nominated Vice Chair Belair Seconded by Member Uliano asd carried by a unanimous voice vote with Viw Chair 8eleir absent. 3. Approval of Minutes November 16, 2001 Regular Meetin®. Member Driver moved to approve the minmes as submitted. Saonded by Member Gavoni and carried by a unanimous voice vote with Via Chair Belair absent. 4. Public Participation, None. 5. OId Business. A. Parks & Reareefiov Manager's Report. Ms. Mali dirtributed s wpy of the City Code regarding City Boards. She steed this copy incoryorated Supplement 50 end the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was on page I65. Ma Meli reported there had been two (2) Bluagrase events since the board last met. She stated the Alts and Craft vendors attended Bluegrass end they would wntinua to hold Bluegrass the samc weekend as the Arts and Crafts Posavek Member Gavoni asked approximately how many attended Bluegrass. Ms. Mali rosponded anywhere from thirty (30) to seventy (70). Ma Meli reported the November f mre for Sen or Mati as 9reatj t m'fi~ ry's and Deoembar's feature was Ey, She reported Celebrate the Seasons raised approximately $I,n00 for Longwood Families in need. She stated the Jingle BeI15K was not well attended. She repotted they also had the annual Santa Visits Longwood. Discussion was held regarding the trce in fiont of City Hall. Ms. Mali reposed over rornty (20) families were helped over the holidays. Each family received food, gifts Cor the childreq and a Christmas free provided for those who were in need ofone. She stated the Igngwood Families in need program started es an employee's desire to give back to the aormnunity. She reviewed the funds raised by the Fall Festival and Celebrate the Seasons for Longwood Families in need. Disussion was held regadivg the possibility of offering scholarships Cor the youth summer camp progam. Member Cmvovi moved that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Hoard approach the Commission at the'v nett meeting to establish a separate fund for summer camp echolerships. Seconded by Member White and carried by a unanimous roll rnlt vote with Vice Chair Belvr absent. Chair Shoemaker moved to amend the motion fo include exining end future yoNh activities. Seconded by Member Ulieno and carried by a unanimous voice vote with Vice Chair Helair absent. Ms. Mali reported [here were two (2) softball leagues going oM one would be finishing Friday. She reported Seniorcise was averaging twenty (20) to twenty-flue (25) paniaipavts. Sho said the tennis Civics were going vary well. She reviewed other various upcoming ovevts She said the AARP driver class has had a great response and the nett class would be an ning class held on January 2G and 27'". Sbe reported the Easter Egg Hunt would be held on March I S"' at Candyland Park. Ruck the Park would be held in May or June. She askM the members to be thinking of ideas for Rock the Park. She said the city would be planning a July 4'" celebration for this year. The theme for this celebration would be geared toward an old fashioned fenivity. She Hated she would have more information at the next meding. Ms. Meli reported [he City Commission passed a Resolution to establish trails in Longwood. She said the City ofLOngwood was well represented on the County Trails Committee. She distributed information on proposed trails for the members to review. 6. New Business. None. 7. Adjournment.
