1. Call to Order. Chair Shoemaker celled [he meeting to order at ].07 p.m.

A. Recreational Program Manager's Report.
Ma Meli repotted the "Wheels of Fun Family Night" was a huge success

Departmeat- She smaed the K-9 demonstration was a big suocesa. She

Ms. Mali reported Summer Camp was an enormous success. She said Ms.
Adzima did a very good job with coordinating camp. She advised having
the children separated by age groups worked very well. They had a good
group of volunteers for summer camp. However, the volunteers were not
allowed to So along on the feld trips due to the liability. She reported the
School Resource Gllicer worked with stafiduring Summer Camp and has
been working with them another evens.
Ms. Mali reported the HARP night clazses were going very well and
another class was scheduled w Stan soon. She stated Senior Matinee
to do well. She advised last month's fature was Natirntal

Ms. Mali reDOrted the Tennis Pro had resigned. She advised a new Tennis

Ms. Mali reported the upcoming scheduled events included Senior

She stated Bluegrass would be held on Soptember 1']"' and the AARP
Driver Safety class will be on Ouober 31° and November2n° in the
Community Building. She advised the Fell Festival is scheduled end

Ms. Mali reported the City was awarded a $200,000 gam by the State
Depart t of Env mal Prot on for Reiter Park. She advised they
had applied fora (CDBG) Community Development Black Gant Cur
Smallworld Park that was not awarded, however. there may be additional
funds available at the end ofthe year. She reported the City had applied
for 514"/.000 through the Hurticane Tree Grant- She stated it is not known
at this time what the City wil I roceive from Yhis grant and it is a 25%
matching grant- She reviewed the proposed renovations for city Parks. She
advised the City may be pattnering with the County and Winter Springs on
Soldier Park. She advised the City was looking ivto pasneahips with
Casselberry as well.
Chair Shoemaker inquired about a partnership with the YMCA
Ms. Mali stated the YWCA gave a presentation at one ofthe City
Commission me rings. She said nothing had been confrmed at This lime.
Ms. Mali advised the Flaunted House will be open tour (4) nigMS October
28'^through October 3I' from fi:00 p m. - 10:00 p.m. She said the Fall
Festival would be held on October 31' from 5:00 p m. to 9 00 pm. es an
alcernative to Trick or Treat.
Ms. Adzima said a big focus for [he Fall Festival was in regards to the
ival games and decorations. She said they plan to hold Story Time this
y sr. She stated shew orking with the School Resource Offver on the
Fall Festival and Celebra a the Seasons.
Ms. Mali staled they ware looking for donations for the Fall Aestival end

Adzima She said they will have BOOVilie this year and Dematis Petsaud
has volunteered to help with Booville She advised the tuns would bo up
on Monday, September 12n and would be ready to decorate by October.
She advised Pat Smith was in need of DlYwood and wstumes. She said
they were in need of volunteers end to contact either herself or Ms.
Adzima. She said they were going ro charge 50 cents per child this year
for Booville.
Member Gavoni suggested having a height requirement for the obstacle

Discussion was held regarding Wnding for Longwood Families in Need_
