ABSENT: MARY VOLKENING-CHAIRMAN
GARY PARKER
CURT FEYERHERM
GUEST; MIKE WARMAN-VFW REPRESENTATIVE
1. The only members present at 7:00 P.M. were Ms. Harris and
' Ms. Krist, therefore the meeting was not called to order because
of a lack of a quorum. Ms. Neisler called members that were not
present. Mr. Parker was reached but was unable to attend, he
related to Ms. Neisler that the VFW confirmed by phone that they
would do the B.B.Q and he has reserved a tent and grill for the
Babe Ruth Baseball State Tournament. Ms. Volkening was not
reached and Mr. Warren left his home to attend when phoned
(arrived at ?:30 P.M.). Members present decided to give their
reports on the Fourth of July Car Show and Family Day.
2. Mr. Warman attended the meeting in order to relay any
information to the membership of the VFW. Mr. Warman noticed
that in the last minutes the board was interested in a dunking
booth for the 4th. He suggested that we contact Mr. Howard Coon
who is a member of the local VFW who owns one that is in very
condition. He knew that he was at the VFW so Ms. Neisler called
during the meeting and spoke with Mr. Coon, it was agreed that he
would loan the dunking booth for the event and the proceeds would
be split 50/50 between the VFW and the Missing Children Center.
3. Ms. Krist read from a list of donations that she has received
that may be used for drawings: 200 handiwipes from C.J's (for
fingerprinting booth), 5 Sheraton World T-Shirt's and 3 resort
coolers, Champagne Brunch (2) at Stouffer Orlando Resort, X25.00
gift certificate at Winn Dixie, Sunday Brunch (2) at Lofton's at
the Altamonte Hilton, 5 full service car washes at Shiner's Car
Wash, 2 adult ~ 2 children's passes for Gator Land, X5.00 and
X10.00 gift certificates at Toys R Us (donated by Vaughn
Printing), 2 admissions to Atlantis Park (Miami), and 2 passes
for the Conch Tour in Key West. Ms. Krist gave Ms. Neisler more
donation letters to be mailed.
4. Ms. Krist passed out copies of the car show registration that
she had composed. Members decided on nine categories that would
be awarded and to show a cut-off date for registration. Both Mr.
Warren and Ms. Krist will call for quotes for printing and
hopefully could get the printing donated. Mr. Warren is to
contact Ms. Krist by Friday so the registration may be submitted
for printing. Mr. Warren will take the registrations to Mr.
Wlosek (contact from the car club) by June ist so they may be
distributed at club's meeting.
S. Ms. Harris had contacted area shops for quotes for the
ribbons and trophies. More information was needed as tv quantity
and sizes before she could get firm prices. Mr. Goebel went to
his office and returned with several trophies and plaques so
members could get ideas for sizes in the X10.00 range. Members
decided to award twelve inch trophies for winners of the nine
categories for the car show with rosette ribbons for runner-ups,
Six inch trophies will be given for the bike rodeo and all
children will receive participation ribbons.
b. Mr. Warman questioned if a time was made for the Honor
Guards participation on the 4th. Members really didn't have any
information because Ms. Volkening had organized this but felt
that it would be at 10:00 A.M.
7. Members questioned Mr. Warren if he had received a
commitment from a radio station. He has not heard back from any
but would continue to check, Ms. Neisler offered to call also.
8. Ms. Neisler also volunteered to type up a notice and have it
distributed at the elementary schools for the bike rodeo. Ms.
Neisler had contacted Ofc. Dutko with the Seminole County
Sheriff's Office and he mailed some information on bike rodeo's
which she gave to Ms. Krist.
4. Ms. Neisler notified the board that Mr. Feyerherm had called
on Friday, May 17th and was resigning from the board. She
requested that Mr. Feyerherm submit his resignation in writing
and thanked him for his participation.
10. The work session adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
Eva Neisler, Secretary
