Candvland Park
Baseball and softball league play will er-rd this menth.
Trophy distribution has begun For- these leagues. Additional
netting is being installed to the back stops to insure
safety. The drinking fountain have been turned off because
f~lr. Palumbo discovered that they were being r-un off the
irrigation lines. BacE;flaw preventers will need to be
installed to insure safe drinking water-.
Reiter Park
The Parks Department Bras been busy vaith a major clean-up of
this park. The northwest section has been cleared and five
tree stumps have been removed. A wank order has been
submitted to Public Wcrks for the removal of the old back
stops behind the Fire Department. This will re-create an
open play area for the park. 'The tern~is court has been
cleaned and the hedges trimmed. The fence posts on the
volleyball court have been replaced and new nets and sand
vaill be forthcoming. A new picnic table has also been
placed in t(-re Park. Mr. Palumbo is scheduling major clean
ups for each of the parr*..s.
CR 4c7 Beautification
The Parks Depai-~iment has devoted a significant amount of
time to this project. The medians, sidewalks and curbs are
being edged Pram Charlotte Street to SR 434. Traffic
control is the major obstacle of this project. 'fhe
sidewalks have been completed and the ~rredians are currently
being dor-re. I`lr. Palumba has beery persnnaily working with
t~is errpiayees an tf"ris project.

An Invitat.ianal Taur-namer~t for Babe Ruth r~~ill be held at
Car-rdylar~rd on December '7, 191 There will be na league play.
a.t Canriyiand during December and January. 'ihe fields will
have rep lacernent clay laid and ti-re cable will be installed
to the scoreboard on field #?.
Adult dance is continuing nn Tuesday evenings which includes
tap and cc~ntertiparary dar-rce ir~structior-r.
The youttl dance instruction has been postponed. A ne~•~
instructor has been hired and a program for ages 5 - 12
should begin in Ja.nuar-~f .
t`1r. Palumba has implemented an Adapt-A-Park pr-agram for
local Girl Scout troops.
Mr. Palumbo has been unable to reach rlr. Lancaster about his
offer to donate a lawn mower.
i~ir. Palumbo has instril.cted the Board seer-etas-y to mail the
Parks/Recreation agendas to the local Homeowner Associations
each month.
A ger-reral discussion began betadeen the Board members and Mr.
Palumba at this time. 1°he Parks Department has just
assembled four new picnic tables to be distributed to Sma1i
Norld, Highland Hiils, and Reiter Park.
f~ls. L'olkening complimented 1~1r. Palumbo on how good the parks
have looked since he has been the acting director.
Pls. grist •.~alunteer-ed to help with the brochure for the
summer pragrarn. rir. Palumbo invited the Board to help plan
the activities far this program. Transpartatian will need
to be contracted nut this year. f~lr-. Palumbo has approached
a Physical Education teacher- from Longwood Elementary to be
placed as the Super-visor for this program. rir. Palumbo
would ).ike to see mare city -Facilities used far this
program, i.e. volleyball, tennis, etc. rls. Volkening
suggested contar_ting Senior Citizen groups to assist in
instruction for crafts and story telling for the. children.
t~ls, Ca.ppani felt i.t was a very good idea to incorporate the
help of Seniors for this program.

Ms. Volkening instructed the Board rnember-s to bring ideas to
the next meeting i~F they were still considering a "Founder°s
Bay" celebr-ation.
Ms. ~Joli<:eninq reminded the )Joarr_i of the Christmas Parade to
be held on December "7, 1991 at 10:00 A.M. i"is. Krist

i''11° Palumbo announced that P`1r Michael i~',a.1in is tt-re nevaly
elected President of Babe Ruth Baseball.
The Parks Department has received a replacement true:,
although used it is in much better condition. He has also
received an old Police car' for t~ris use. ~-~ second mower has
been purchased with a S foot cutting deck. This mower will
allow access to Reiter mark and will be useful in cutting
the medians. Small Wor?.d is the next park scheduled for a
major- clea.i-r-up.
