1. Ms. Volkening called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.
2. David Barkan was introduced as the District 1 appointment to
the Parks and Recreation Board.
3. Ms, Neisler was contacted by Ms. Harris advising that she
was unable to attend due to an illness. She requested that Ms.
Neisler notify the board that she had checked on the trophies and
the cost would be approximately X8.00 to X9.00 for the 12". Ms.
Volkening said that she would check with Triple A Trophies and
possibly could get a better quote since she has worked with them
so often with the Christmas Parade.
4. Ms, Krist explained the problems that she had encountered
with the car registration, After the rush of having the
registration forms printed she met with Mr. Stan Wloskek of the
Gator State date Great Car Club. Mr. Wloskek: reviewed the
registration forms and suggested that several changes should be
done, one was to remove "Chevy" which could possibly deter other
makes of cars from registering, It was decided to incorporate
Mr. Wloskek's suggestions and redo the flyer. The registration
forms were redone and Mr. Wloskek picked up the forms on 1''lay
SOth. He then distributed the forms at that evenings meeting of
the car club and would also pass them out at Old Town in
Kissimmee. Ms. Neisler will distribute the registrations at the
Altamonte Steak-N-Shake on June 15.
5. Ms. Volkening had contacted WDBO 58, Q96 and K92 and
requested their participation for the 4th. WDBO and K92 are
already committed, Q96 has not returned her call. Ms. Krist
inquired if anyone could obtain a public address system which
would be needed, since it seemed we would be unable to have a
radio station. Ms. Volkening questioned Mr. Goebel about a power
source at the park. Mr. Goebel said the only source of power
would be at the concession stand. Mr. Goebel said he would check
with Babe Ruth Baseball and see if they would let us use their
P,A. system for the day. Ms. Volkening also has a contact if the
ball team's could not be used.

6. Ms. Volkening wilt contact the Commissioners to see if they
will take a turn sitting in the dunking booth. Ms. Krist had
already contacted Commissioner Lovestrand and he accepted. Mr.
Goebel also volunteered for the dunking booth. Ms. Volkening
will also check if any other City staff would commit.
7. Ms. Volkening has a donation of potato chips from Keebler.
Ms. Neisler also had received two cartons of chips (regular
size). Ms. Volkening will check and see if they would replace
chips for cookies because of the conflict with the VFW of selling
chips.
8. Ms. Volkening suggested that Mr. Goebel schedule the
community service workers for the Saturday after the 4th for
clean-up. Ms. Neisler had contacted IWS for an extra dumpster
for the 4th through the next week during the baseball tournament.
9. Ms. Krist will have the flyer advertising the July 4th
Family Day done by next week. She will coordinate with Ms.
Neisler having the flyer printed and picked up. Ms. Neisler will
contact board members to pick up the flyers for distribution.
Ms. Krist also reminded members to seek donations that the car
club is expecting, such as motor oil and car related items.
Both Ms. Krist and Ms. Neisler passed out copies of press
releases for the board to review. Ms. Neisler will mail copies
to all local radio stations and newspapers for community
advertising.
1n. Ms. Krist will design the voting tickets that will be used
for the winning categories for the automobiles. Each ticket will
be sold for X1.00 and they can use one part for their vote and
the other section will be used for drawings of donated
merchandise. Ms. Krist contacted every attraction that the
summer playground visits for donations, Mr. Goebel will call Wet-
n-Wild also for a donation.
11. Mr. Goebel passed out copies of the Parks & Recreation
budget for 91/R2. Mr. Goebel explained the budget procedure to
the members and reviewed the entire budget with the board. Mr.
Goebel requested that members review the budget and also visit
each park to familiarize themselves with the requested equipment
in the budget and please call with any suggestions that they
would want incorporated. A general discussion was held at this
time concerning the budget. Mr. Goebel also suggested that board
members attend the budget work session that is held with the
Commission.
12. The work session adjourned at 8:10 P.M. The next work
session is scheduled for June 18, 1991. Respectfully Submitted
