1. Meeting was called to order by Mr. Segrest, Vice Chairman,
at 7:15 P.M.
2. Motion/Ms. Volkening, Seconded/Ms. Hockenberry to approve
minutes dated 2/14/89 as written.
3. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
There were no invited quests.
4. DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Mr. Goebel, Director of Parks & Recreation, informed the
board members that the 1989 Summer Playground Program has
been organized and ready for the first session in June.
Dance classes are continuing and Ms. Gamble will begin
evening classes this summer. Arbor Park was dedicated
April 8, 1989.
5. OLD BUSINESS
Board members reviewed the changes to the Rules and
Regulations from the 2/14/89 meeting and made the following
amendments:
ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP. Members of the board must be
at least 18 years of age....
ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS. The Parks and Recreation Director
shall attend any and all meetings of the board unless
excused by the Chairperson or Vice Chairperson. IF ABSENT

ARTICLE VI - MEETINGS AND QUORUM.
C. CANCELLATION OF MEETINGS. Delete; "....AT CITY HALL
AND ADVERTISED IN THE NEWSPAPER."
ARTICLE VIII - AMENDMENT.
A. Recommendation for change to these Rules and Regulations
may be recommended to the City Commission through a
two-thirds vote by the Board, a quorum being present.
ARTICLE IX - MEETING FORMAT AND AGENDA
A. Delete on item 4) PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR'S
REPORT SUBMITTED IN WRITING AT ALL MEETINGS.
Board members instructed the secretary to prepare all
changes to the Rules & Regulations and send copies to
the Commissioners, City Administrator, City Clerk and
City Attorney.
6. NEW BUSINESS
Motion Ms. Volkening/Seconded Ms. Gamble to invite the
City Attorney, Richard Taylor and the City Administrator,
Michael Abels to the boards June meeting.
Mr. Goebel requested that the board assist in planning
the equipment budget for the parks in the 89/90 budget
year.
Mr. Segrest informed the board of Ms. Savage's resignation.
Motion/Ms. Hockenberry, Seconded/Ms. Gamble to postpone
the election of officers until the May meeting since a
vacancy for District ~~4 would need to be filled.
Ms. Volkening informed the board of the tree planting by the
Christmas Parade Committee schedule for April 15, 1989,
at 11:30 A.M. at Reider Park.
7. ADJOURN
Motion/Ms. Volkening, Seconded/Ms. Gamble to adjourn the
meeting at 9:07 P.M.
