1. Mr. Segrest called the meeting to order at 7:12 P.M.
2. Motion by Pat Hockenberry/Seconded by Mary Volkeriing to
approve the minutes from the August 8, 1989 meeting.
3. PUBLTC PARTICIPATIQN
A. Dave Gamble, President of the Babe Ruth Little League
Baseball advised us that the program has 230 children
registered. They had to cut off registration. He also
expressed to the board the desire for them to meet with
the Board of Birectors to discuss future plans. They
will meet on Wednesday night the bth, 13th and 27th of
September. The members agreed to attend the meeting on
the 13th at 7:30 in the Community Building. Mr. Gamble
also invited the board to the opening day of the winter
league scheduled for the following Saturday at 1G:45
A.M. He stated that he planned to introduce the board
to the players and their- families present.
B. Ms. Volkening invited Mr, Gamble to have the 32
children who went to the Little League State
Championship to be in the Christmas parade. She
suggested that they carry a banner.
4. DIRECTOR'S REPORT
A. Mr. Goebel advised the board of the progress with
Candyland Park. Kelly Electric will be doing the
lighting. Will go before the commission for approval
Monday night the 11th.
Irrigation specifications are done. Bids open
Wednesday, September 12th. Will be on the commission
agenda for the September 25th meeting for award.

Had to rewrite the specifications for the Fencing,
should be ready by Monday. Opening is scheduled for
October 4tt~, will then be scheduled for the next
commission meeting.
Grading is SO'/. completed. Concession stand to be
started Bonn. Plumbing plans are almost complete.
Public works will be pouring the slab. Have decided to
have sewer instead of a septic tank, due to the city's
desire to have residence hook up to the sewer system.
As of this date, all is still on line, scheduled
opening is still Mid February, 1990.
B. Babe Ruth baseball opening ceremony Saturday at 10:45
A,M. as previously discussed.
C. Kay Gamble's dance classes start next week. Ms. Gamble
advi sed Mr. Goebel that she would make him a video tape
of l ast years recital.
D. Ms. Volkening questioned Mr. Goebel regarding sprigs.
Mr. Goebel stated the spriging will probably not be
done until the last week in September.
E. Mr. Goebel has spoke with David Wickman regarding ideas
for tree and shrubbery selection. Trees run from
X80. 00 up to X1000.00 in price.
F. As for replacing the equipment in Shadow Hill's
subd ivision, Mr. Goebel has compiled the cost estimate
and forwarded to Mr. Mike Abels, who forwarded it to
the City Attorney who in turn forwarded it to the
insu rance company. We are currently awaiting a check
for approximately X2000.00.
5. OLD BUSINESS
A. Mr. Goebel advised the members that he has located the
telephone number of the Eagle Scout that originally
inquired about doing some landscaping work in Reiter
Park. Mr. Goebel plans to contact the young man. He
has heard nothing more from the boy.
B. Mr. Segrest commented on the touching dedication of
Cathy Lodding Park.

C. Ms. Volkening inquired as to the removal of the wood
from the sheds that were torn down in Reiter Par4~.
Snakes have been seen again. Mr. Goebel stated that
maybe the weekend warriors could remove ttie wood.
D. Ms. Hockenberry questioned if we had any recreational
programs for the winter. Mr. Goebel advised we only
have the dance class and winter baseball. Ms. Gamble
questioned if anything ever came of the baton classes
which were once offer-ed. She would like to see some
after school programs/classes. Woodcarvers have
offered to teach, not as a so called class but as a one
on one basis. Mr. Goebel expressed that we just don't
have a facility larger enough for several different
activities.
E. Ms, Volkening asked Mr, Segrest if he found out about
the tires from Contractor Tire. He had and Mr. Goebel
will send a city truck to pick up some tires as needed.
F. Mr. Segrest asked if anything had been done regarding
appointing another member to the board. Mr. Goebel
stated that he would write a memo to Mr. Terry
requesting a new member be appointed. Ms. Gamble
advised that she will have to be leaving the board
also. A replacement will be needed from Commissioner
Bullington's district.
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Mr. Goebel advised the board there was X1200.00
remaining in the 1989 budget, Capital Equipment line
item. The board needed to decide on some new
playground equipment.
After much discussion, the members decided on 2 - three
seater swing sets. One to be placed in Raven Park and
the other in Sandalwood Park.
B. Mr. Goebel will get a "Game Time" and a "Miracle"
catalog to each member. This month, Mr. Goebel wants
the board to concentrate on one park, deciding what new
equipment that individual park needs.
