A RESOLUTTON OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD,
FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE NATIONAL INCR)ENT
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (NIMS); PROVIDING
FOR DISTRIBUTION, AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVEDATE.
WHEREAS, Homeland Security Presid,Wd Directive/HSPD-5, 28 February
2W3 established the National Incident Management System (NIMS); and
WHEREAS, the National Inddent Management System (NIMS) establishes e
single, wmprehevsive approach to domesic incident management m ensure that all
levels of govemment across the Nation have the capability to work effciemly and
effectively together using a national approach to domestic incident management; and
WHEREAS, the Netioval Incident Management System (NIMS) provides a
coru,stevt nmi-v de approach for Federal, State, and Local govemment, to work
together to prepare far, respond to and rewver from domestic incidents regardless of the
cause, size or wmplevty; and
WHEREAS, the National Incident Manage ment System(N )provides for
interopembility and compatibility among Federal, Stele and Local capabilities end
includes a core set ofwncepts, priacipies, terminology and tecMologies wvering the
mcident wmmavd system, unified wmmand, training, management or resources and
reporting;and

shall make adoption ofthe National Incident Management System (M MS) a requ'nemem,
to the WM provided by 1a for providing Federal preparedness assistance through

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF LONGWOOD, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
